@exQUIZitely The arcade version ran on a Zilog (sp?) a very cool cpu with similar specs to a 6502. I think I saw it says Zilog somewhere on the standup machines paint job

Who here remembers Spy Hunter? Originally created by Bally Midway in 1983 for arcades, it was then ported to a gazillion systems. I played this into oblivion on my C64. Like so many 80s games, this one doesn't have an end (which I didn't know back in the day and thought if I tried hard enough I'd see it... ah, good old days). That music...

One of the best early 80s games ever is Choplifter, from 1982, developed by Dan Gorlin and published by Broderbund. It also became one of the best selling games ever for the Apple II. I first saw and played this at a friend's house. We had a handrittwen "Highscore" list that we updated over several months, signed by all players present when we played it. One simple rule was that highscores only counted when at least one other person was present and signed it off. I wished that list didn't get lost in time. Early 80s gaming included so many things that don't exist anymore today... handwritten high score lists, drawn dungeon maps, and level codes.

@Habubrats71 Need some RCS in space or bad times. Even Baumgartner could have used some.

This is how fast an SR 71 is. Eldon Joersz was selected along with his RSO George Morgan, to fly for the international speed record in 1976. This was in part for the bicentennial celebration of the United States. George Morgan had texted me that they should have made 2100 mph, they missed the mark by 7 miles. When they were going out of the gate, they had an unstart. That’s a momentary pause in the engine that literally causes the engine to stop for a few seconds. George was disappointed that they didn’t make it to 2200 but they opted not to start over and keep going. For many years how fast the airplane flew and how high it could fly were top secret. Even today there are rumors that it could go Mach 4and could fly into Outer space. NOT TRUE. 🚀 Linda Sheffield

@JohnLat17920596 @NASA This will be the first planned flyby of the moon for NASA. Apollos 8 and 10 entered lunar orbit, 11 landed. So this is 2 steps before a landing. I don’t know if they have a lunar orbit without landing mission planned. Incredible time in history.

@NASA This is craziest fly by in history. If I have this right they are not landing on the moon. Just doing a drive by. This will be really great for everyone for future endeavors. So let me know if I am wrong about the part on not landing.

Was a pleasure hosting @MrBeast at Starbase. The heat shield tile you installed passed quality checks and is scheduled to fly to space on a future mission!

@Merica197138 This might be an imperfect test. I am close with a former grocery store worker whose only break during the day was collecting carts. Test might still be 99% accurate, as I doubt cart leavers have this in mind.

@RealFrattaro @SlumRNA_Dog I’ve always liked it that 67/99 for example is .67676767… and 123/999 for example is .123123123… so the punchline for me is 67/99 = 6767/9999

@SlumRNA_Dog Number lines always gave me problems as a kid. Think of it like fence posts and fence sections: 3 is the section from 3.0 to 3.99999... If you add 6 + 3 that should equal 8.999.... Years later they show you 1/9 = 0.111... 2/9 = 0.222... ... 8/9 = 0.888... 9/9 = 0.999... = 1

Sometimes my son has shit like this on his homework and while I’m sure it’s totally easy, I also have no idea what the hell it’s asking him to do, and neither does he, and I know in my heart that it’s some sort of cockamamie scheme to teach black kids to “do math in dey head.”

@truthache68 I pressed and pressed and finally after looking it up elsewhere I told it that he had played Argyle the uncle. Chat then admitted the error but not before going on about how Argyle was such an unimportant part.

@truthache68 I asked ChatGPT where I might know Logan in Succession from< It replied right away that he played Longshanks in Braveheart. I was like that was 30 years ago - he was old then and looks nothing like him? Chat said yeah, they used aging makeup and a prosthetic nose.
