YEAR ONE OF THE DAILY PROGRAM In 2023, something significant happened with AI video technology. The level of control many of these tools started to offer sparked something in the minds of video artists across the world. Our first venture into supporting video art was through the Post Photographic Perspectives Project, where four artists with distinct visions exemplified that there was much to be done with these tools in terms of storytelling, aesthetic experimentation, and discovering new narratives that felt innate to AI video tools. We had more questions than answers, which led us to view this project as a survey. Hence, the curation was broad and eclectic, with a mission to showcase as much variety of voices and ideas as possible. After months of research and talent scouting, we saw that what we thought would happen was indeed unfolding. That is why we decided to build the DAILY AI Video Program—an NFT contract that would capture what we believed would be a transformative year for this emerging medium. And we were right. AI video has taken off in more ways than we could have imagined, with some of the 150 artists included in the program playing central roles in these breakthroughs. From @TEDTalks to backgrounds at @coachella for @NoDoubt and @oliviarodrigo, to exhibitions in museums, cinemas, and film festivals worldwide, the DAILY program has become a hub for the AI video community to gather and push each other to new heights. As we reach the one-year mark, we’ve been reflecting on this curatorial survey and exploring new directions for the future. Our first step is to close the first-year contract. This fulfills our mission of bringing together some of the brightest minds in the genre, clustering them in an NFT smart contract that can serve as a reference point for the future of AI video. We were ambitious in our curation, and we’ve achieved our goal. These approximately 3,000 videos will stand as a testament to the possibilities of AI video, and we are honored to have been part of its evolution. To celebrate the closure of the First Year Daily Collection, we’ve arranged a series of small solo shows to represent the clear evolution from the initial releases in 2023 to the latest breakthroughs in AI video tools and storytelling.
