The SCOTUS has just allowed for republicans to effectively eliminate the power of southern Black Americas to pick their own representatives.
Essentially eliminating their voting power. They have effectively reset the south to pre-civil rights era voter suppression.
What MLK, John Lewis, Rosa Parks, and countless others fought and died for has been dismantled with a flick of the wrist after 6 decades of precedent that apparently means nothing to this court.
Make no mistake, this is a major defeat of American values and equality.

@esglaude He moron, we've never been a democracy. We are a republic. You are just another useful idiot.

Today's Supreme Court decision reverses hard-won progress under the Voting Rights Act.
It means less representation for millions of Black Americans and other voters of color, as lawmakers gain greater ability to manipulate their districts. There will be more extreme partisan gerrymandering, lopsided elections, less accountable government, and policies that hurt rather than help with everyday life.
But this is no time to be demoralized, because we know it does not have to be this way. We can mobilize around reform, new laws, and where necessary, constitutional amendments for fairer government. Only then can we feel the benefits of a balanced Court, a truly representative Congress, and an election system free from the distorting power of extreme corporate and partisan manipulation.

Black people in New Orleans and Baton Rouge will no longer have the representation we’ve had in Congress. This is white supremacy

Right now, I'm BLOCKING a Republican bill to build Donald Trump's ballroom.
Instead of rubber-stamping Trump’s gold-encrusted ballroom, Congress must lower costs for American families. twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…

Trump's Supreme Court is dragging us back to the dark and ugly days of Jim Crow.

@DrNeilStone Doesn't take a lot of research, most people can fix or avoid dementia with their diet. No medication required for the vast majority of people. Proper diet and lifestyle are the cure. Stop trying to be an alarmist because you hate Maha

My favorite kind of abortion is the kind that's safe, legal, accessible, and none of your damn business to regulate.
And no amount of fearmongering by describing what goes on to a half-ounce fetus with no consciousness, self-awareness, or feeling of pain is going to change that.

Which abortion is your favorite? The one where the unborn baby's body is crush and sucked out with a hose or the one where the baby is cut apart with a knife? Please enlighten us.

@BarackObama Jackass, we are not a democracy, we are a republic. You would think as president this would be day one stuff

Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.

Today I joined @RepRaskin in introducing a 25th Amendment bill to create a bipartisan commission to determine if the President is fit to serve—due to physical, mental, or other conditions.
It’s time to act. ⬇️

Dear MAGA,
Just out of curiosity: If president Biden had banged porn stars, cheated on multiple wives, lied 30,000 times, singlehandedly and unilaterally started a war, released 5,000 Talibanis, bombed a school, bungled the Covid response, added trillions to the deficit, claimed windmills cause cancer, abandoned veterans, bombed 8 countries in one year, altered a weather map with a Sharpie, praised Allah in an Easter message, slept through numerous meetings, threatened to bomb another nation back to the Stone Ages because 'they're animals', violated the Constitution’s emoluments clause, sided with Vladimir Putin over U.S. intelligence agencies, revealed highly classified information to Russian officials in the Oval Office, and golfed when dead service members returned home, would you think it was okay and support his right to do so?
If not, then why let Trump get away with it?
