The always entertaining negative visibility reports have returned, this time within extremely heavy lake snow at the Dunkirk ASOS station east of Lake Erie. Incidentally, this seems like extremely fun weather if you can enjoy it safely. #nywx

@robsobs @nytimes Correct. Think a lot of young voters and even Latinos/African-Americans (who were subject to controversial takes) surprised the Dems. I’d guess a decent amount of voters probably don’t even know/understand either party’s policies but just voted based off noise and/or inflation/$$

Looking at the model outlook into mid November:
a rapid & breezy warm-up mid week then dropping back into the normal single digits.
The only potential significant rain event may have remnant tropical moisture from a Gulf of Mexico system around the 12th??

A high of “only” 96F expected today in Phoenix, first time in 3 weeks they will not hit a daily record high. This 21 day streak of consecutive record highs is the longest such streak in US climate history, surpassing the previous streak of 14 days at Burlington IA in July 1936

This may come as a surprise, but from 2013-2022 the majority (57%) of deaths from US tropical systems came from rain flooding, far more than what used to be the leader, storm surge. #Milton

#Milton’s relentless rain has flooded multiple parts of the Tampa Bay Area. Rivers are near or above record levels, neighborhoods are submerged. Most rivers crest this weekend and begin to gradually fall early this week.

This is kind of hard to wrap my head around. Today was the 18th day in a row Phoenix has set a record high. 18 days straight!
It's the longest stretch of record highs for any station in the U.S.

Maybe some good news for #winter weather enthusiasts. Ural blocking doing its magic & Siberian #snow cover has had a burst the past several days, putting some nice distance from last year's anemic pace. My research shows more fall snow in Siberia more winter cold & snow elsewhere

Northern lights reported in many countries in Europe. As long as geomagnetic storm keeps going, still have decent shot in US, esp East Coast after dark. Best viewing in northern states, but may be able to see away from city lights in DC area, esp toward mountains - and w/ camera.

There are meterologists leaving Twitter due to death threats for, among other things, 'not reporting the truth that the government is creating hurricanes'.
