Augment Code
Augment Code@augmentcode·
We’re introducing a new pricing tier: Augment Indie For $20/month you get: - 125 agent messages / month - Same leading Context Engine, perfect for complex tasks and large codebases - Best coding models: choose between GPT 5 and Claude Sonnet 4

When we rolled out usage-based pricing, we heard the same feedback again and again: "600 messages is way more than I need." You wanted a lighter plan that still gives full context + coding agents.

@augmentcode solid tier for indies. nice to see flexibility for lighter users. makes it more inviting for devs to try it out without committing to the full package.

@augmentcode Solid move with the Indie tier. Flexible pricing really helps those who don't need the full package. Smart strategy.

I used Warp (The AI Terminal) 10,000 messages in less than a month which equates to ~333 messages per day, or one every ~4.5 minutes if used continuously during an 8-hour workday and that's not even enough for power users like me with huge complex codebases. Now imagine Augment Code's mere 125 messages/month (about 4-5 per day) is a tiny fraction of this, it's underwhelmingly productive even for a light usage user

@augmentcode $20 for 125 messages is way too low 600 should be the baseline at $20. Then the $50 tier could reasonably scale to something like 1500 messages. That’d feel fair and competitive. If you aligned pricing this way, Augment would stand out as the most competitive option

@augmentcode Love the product, but pricing seems off: $50 = 600 msgs vs $20 = 125 (roughly half the value per $). Could the $20 tier be adjusted to about 240 msgs or clarified why tiers aren’t proportional?

@augmentcode What a joke! At $20/month, 125 messages is far too low. A fair structure would be something like: •$20 for 600 messages •$50 for 1500 messages •$100 for 3500 messages That way, the pricing actually matches the needs of indie developers and makes sense for real usage.

@augmentcode I’m glad you have this additional plan. Not planning to switch though happy with the $50 plan for my full time work. I’m still getting around getting automations done with auggie. But will create a new account for my personal side projects under $20!

@augmentcode Sorry, but 125 messages for $20 is simply not enough. This feels like the same mistake OpenAI made, becoming complacent, assuming “we’re the best,” and then being surprised when competitors catch up and users start leaving. 20$ = 400 Messages -> 50$ = 1000Messages -> Higher plans

@augmentcode 125 message for 20 dollar, that’s a scam, no one in their right mind would pay for this, codex way better than you literally unlimited and for 20 dollar, your 125 messages would be consumed in few days , uninstalling this bullshit

Why not pay per-token? Each message has a different length. Sometimes that favors me and sometimes that favors Augment. I don’t write long prompts that often (at this point). I fear I would burn through my message quota really fast, making Augment more expensive for me than alternatives. From what I understand currently, I’d much rather pay per token or similar. Per message is too obtuse.

Hey @augmentcode, what exactly are you trying to achieve here? A normal user can easily finish 125 requests within a day. Why not reduce the $50 plan to $25 or $30 instead? Right now, @grok Code Fast 1 is the cheapest and best model in the market, and GPT-5 is booming as well. Nobody really uses Claude 4 anymore — its hype is gone. So what type of customers are you trying to target? I honestly don’t understand.

@augmentcode What the fuck? It was 10$ per 100 messages, so you are reducing messages once a fucking gain.

@augmentcode Pricing got worse: $10/100 → $15/100. $20/125 while $50/600 exists? Too pricey and confusing. Feels like bait. Alternatives (Kiro, Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, Codex) offer better value. Likely canceling. I’d buy at $10/100 or $20/200.

@augmentcode Not feasible, atleast 200 message we need for 20$ plan , most of people already switched, and I am using both augment pro plan and @windsurf pro. I hardly use augment code now as GPT ( don't know whether it is high) is that augment is not as powerful as in windsurf.

@augmentcode Timing matters soon we’ll see $15–$25 plans offering 500+ messages by default. If Augment doesn’t adapt, developers will move to platforms that give more freedom for the same price and better results
