@AVARY < 3 mins it would seem, he had to call cut to save stock. It's like the way Carruth shot Primer, cutting in camera.

@AVARY The counter argument would likely be that these limitations make him more specific about getting what he needs instead indulging in an unnecessary surplus of takes.

3 minutes in the mag? That sounds terrible… Probably requires a LOT of patience, and focus. That said, for instance I think of Dunkirk which was overwhelmingly shot with IMAX cameras, and the performances (while maybe not rich in dialogues) were excellent. Also, people like Damon, Hathaway, Pattinson, Branagh and Cillian Murphy all seem to gladly return to work under Nolan’s direction. Apart from the paychecks, it mustn’t be such a bad experience. To each their own I guess.

@AVARY Hi Roger. Don't you think a fair counter to that would be that the technology needs an opportunity to evolve? IMAX cameras have been around for a time, but Nolan is the first guy to use them this way.

@AVARY And really movies life is on home viewing so why shoot in something that's not gonna really fit a standard TV or look funny. It's like going back to the 4:3 Vs 16:9 shit and having stretched or cropped screens.

@AVARY I still think it’s worth it that he actually went through w/the process. The next person can use what they learned & take the tech further And….It’s Impossible to Learn to Plow by Reading Books 😬🤷🏽‍♂️ I guess he didn’t choose dual mag

@AVARY Yeah, I somehow think constantly blue-balling your actors and actresses has got to be tough on performances.

@AVARY I wonder if the movie uses some trickery to stitch longer shots together. I’ll be there opening day with my stopwatch.

@AVARY Should’ve shot it in VistaVision. That empowered PTA to fill the 1.43 ratio in IMAX for the duration without such restrictions Also one thing I note in Odyssey trailers is the focus limitations on closeups. Another downside of that system.
