@nuserynotes @clcisme I am a proponent of wearing a respirator when there is a chance of being exposed to a respiratory hazard that can kill or disable me.

@clcisme We’re you a masking proponent prior to Covid? I mean SARS was pretty bad but I don’t recall masks suggested or required

Don’t call yourself a Long Covid advocate if you’re not advocating for masking. Makes no sense at all.

@ChickaRando @socrdoc Hmmm....maybe force-infecting children with a virus known to cause these symptoms in order to go back k to normal might have something to do with it. But i'm just spitballing here.

@socrdoc The bigger question is why do soo many kids have these problems now? 70s kids had almost no chronic illness, my daughters class in 2000’s started to show issues like asthma, neurodivergence, allergies, etc. Now, what is it, like 60% of all kids have something. What changed?

I respectfully disagree. As a general pediatrician caring for a large neurodiverse population (ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, CAPD, concussion, anxiety), I’m seeing a very different reality over the last 5 years. 🧵1/14

Over-diagnosis / misdiagnosis / self-diagnosis of EDS, MCAS, POTS, & Lyme is a real problem, and it would appear that there is little appetite by medical professionals to discuss this issue publicly.

@jillneimark @envidreamz With R0 increasing 3-5X from 2020 to 2022, I'd expect the percentage of infections from outdoor contact to be much higher now.

2) A systematic review published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases found that the odds of indoor transmission were 18.7 times higher than outdoor transmission, with less than 10% of reported global infections occurring outdoors. (and that is only talking about outdoors not about fleeting encounters outdoors) doi.org/10.1093/infdis…

“I’ve never had Covid,” they say… Well I don’t believe it. Covid is airborne. We have had 12 waves. And unless you have been in total isolation at the top of the Swiss Alps and have not seen another single living thing besides maybe a Yak on the mountain top and you’ve worn Level 3 Biohazard hazmat suit precautions when you go out… then well… 🤷‍♀️

@jillneimark @envidreamz This study was conducted August 2020. Before fleeting transmission was confirmed in Australia with the delta variant. Also, indoor transmission is so common that outdoor transmission can be both less common than outdoor transmission AND a significant risk.

@DonEford And what the term "slow-walking" a case means. These same fools still think Biden fought against lifting the mask requirements on airplanes.

And if you still aren’t convinced, maybe you could have the HUMILITY to accept that maybe you don’t KNOW everything about COVID or what it can do, a virus that has been around for less than a decade, when we are just now discovering EBV may lead to MS

@jillneimark @envidreamz I don't think there's any basis for the statement that fleeting contact transmission is rare.

@69L46 @envidreamz I never said it was magic. However, risk is dramatically reduced. Fleeting contact transmission is rare, tho. Outdoor transmission tends to be when people are talking for a while.

@jillneimark @envidreamz Outdoors isn't magic. Transmission via fleeting contact was known since the delta variant in 2021.

@envidreamz Wrong. If you wear a well fitting mask in public indoors, do outdoor activities, keep track of wastewater and stay home during surges you can likely avoid COVID and other airborne illnesses. Not foolproof but I know many such.

@ccheetham83 @RepKeithAmmon Imagine how things could have gone if Iran had agreed to halt their weapons program and allow international inspections to verify compliance. Oh, wait, they did, but b/c a Democratic President got the deal done, the GOP fought it and Trump pulled out in his 1st term.

"COVID-19 in children caused persistent reduction in LV GLS, indicating subclinical dysfunction. GLS reduction was > in moderate to severe cases, showing severity-dependent myocardial changes. Even without overt disease, COVID may cause lasting subtle 🫀 impairment in children."

@SalvMattera I noticed the increase in ATRs just through casual consumption of news - not even deep dives on player stats/health. I suspected that it was COVID as well.

This study further strengthens my hypothesis that COVID is behind the epidemic of Achilles Tendon Ruptures in major sports. It found a 212% increased risk of developing mixed connective tissue disease after infection. If SARS2 is triggering an autoimmune attack on connective tissues, the Achilles tendon is a prime target for degradation, making it susceptible to rupture under normal loads. Further, the study indicates a 215% increased risk of inflamed blood vessels. The Achilles tendon has poor blood flow. Without adequate blood flow, the tendon cannot repair micro-tears from daily use, leading to degeneration and eventual rupture. As I've said before though, to be fair, there are other factors, like the NFL adding a 17th game. In a world with COVID, athletes bodies are going to be more fragile. Sports should be reducing their workload, not asking them to do more.

@Themislv_vls I remember reading early on about researchers finding elevated biomarkers for blood vessel damage in children after a covid infection. The claim that covid doesn't affect children has always been rooted in dishonesty. chop.edu/news/chop-rese…
