Since the EHRC guidelines came out I have been removed from the men’s bathroom and sent to the women’s. Four times. I just wanted to use the men’s room. Let me explain why this is absurd. The guidance was supposed to bring clarity. What it has actually produced is loo attendants overriding my choice of where to use the bathroom, men walking out of the men’s room when they see me, checking the sign to confirm it says men, and then walking into the women’s instead. Then some of those same men find me at the bar later. Behind their wives’ backs. This is the clarity your guidance delivered @EHRC @bphillipsonMP @Keir_Starmer. I choose the men’s bathroom. That is my body. My decision. Not a loo attendant’s. Not a Supreme Court ruling’s. Mine. And four times since these guidelines came out that choice has been overridden by someone enforcing a policy that does not account for the full reality of how human beings actually look and exist in the world. The UK was number one in Europe for LGBTQIA+ rights. We are now 22nd. And it will be worse next year because everything causing that drop was announced after the index was published. Remember segregated bathrooms. Remember what that represented and what it took to end it. If this has happened to you since the EHRC guidelines came out please say so. A class legal action is being considered and it is stronger with more people. Document every incident. Date it. Keep it. The guidance does not work. The doors are not operating the way they imagined. And the people being harmed by this chaos are the ones the guidance was supposedly designed to protect. It is not protecting anyone. It is just causing chaos. Four times. I just wanted to use the loo. This is backfiring on terfs lol

@DnaiFear @daniellismore I’m not dismissing it and many families turn a blind eye and many children never tell because they are inherently afraid. It is a very complex issue and under resourced in treatments.

@AjtrReid @daniellismore heard about someone being arrested for repeatedly assaulting their own child over the course of years? Why do you think that is? Because children are threatened into silence, and / or the family / community turns a blind eye or sweeps it under the rug. You're not just barking up

@DnaiFear @daniellismore I’m not saying they are. It just puts some of us in a very vulnerable position and it’s not rational but panic never is. I do want to thank you for engaging in a conversation and I hope for a solution where no one feels vulnerable.
