@PeterMcCormack I replaced Premier with capcut few years ago and never looked back. As for Photoshop, it's long gone.. Only opening it few times per year to "Remove background" in transparent png, gpt image 2 still struggles with transparency

@dcuthbert I was in the former USSR, so experienced the restriction. Quickly found proxy in the US to download full versions, including schannel.dll for Windows. The proxies were advertised, no abuse! It was funny to see attempts to come up with interim upgrades. SGC, anyone? ;)

in the 1990s, the US government classified 128-bit SSL encryption as a "munition" under ITAR, putting it in the same legal bucket as missiles and tanks. As a result, Netscape and Microsoft had to develop two entirely separate versions of their web browsers:

Sometime people make things (software), and they have mistakes that no one could have seen coming. These mistakes sometimes need to be fixed when it’s convenient. Sometimes they need to be fixed RIGHT AWAY! Having friends (senior developers) with you makes fixing the mistakes easier. But these friends can’t be around forever (normal employment lifecycle, people leave, people have different specific things that they’re good at). So these friends invite their friends (junior developers) and they show each other what they know about this thing you’ve made. But since you have SO MANY friends and friends of friends around, they want to find things to do. So they upgrade the thing you made and add cool new widgets and colors. Okay, now not like your five. I’m convinced that many of these hires are for the purpose of having lots of experience in house; but, the hiring managers won’t always know who will be best until they give them a shot. Lots stay on, I’m sure, for keeping the company’s DEI ratios intact. I’ve heard from former google “junior devs” that they got placed on the call center assisting elderly people on simple tasks like bulk deleting spam. I also think this is why we’ve had a lot of tech layoff for the past couple years. Many companies over hired during COVID so they could get that sweet gov income—they didn’t have anything to do with these employees. So when AI became a thing, they used that as an excuse to “trim the fat.”

can anyone ELI5 why software needs to be "maintained"? Like why do you need whole teams working on stuff that already works? Hardware doesn't work like this If it functions, it functions and does not need to be changed unless you're replacing something worn out.

@supertrucker @Pillboy7 I’ve drove more than 600 miles a day legally. I was governed at 65 mph 60 mph x 11 hours = 660 miles 60 mph x 70 hours = 4,200 miles

Until legit carrier increase their pay for their drivers, the idiots out there will continue to be tempted to make “good money” at the shadier ones.

How much faster are modern computers? Here's a fair example: compiling the same code on old and new. I have a VAX4000-705A, which is about 50 MIPS, or 50x as fast as my PDP_11. I wrote a bunch of code for it today, but I'm cross-compiling it on a Mac. But I _can_ compile it on the VAX if I choose, and here are the results: Mac Pro M2: 0.178 seconds VAX4000: 1 min 7.59 seconds That makes the Mac about 380X as fast as the fastest VAX ever made!

We were at the park yesterday when a refugee sat down next to us and started masturbating while staring at my daughter. I almost committed a thought crime as I thought "Ugh, disgusting." But I then reminded myself that immigrants cannot be held responsible for their actions. Instead I smiled and gave him a thumbs-up. The charming man then came up and flirted with my daughter, saying "I want fuck you now." I had to intervene, "Sir, my daughter is only 11 years old. But I will not judge you for this, as this is normal in your culture." He looked at me, pulled down his pants, took a shit in his hand, and hurled it in my face. I stood up, shook his hand, and said "You know what, I deserved that. My people have oppressed yours for centuries." This is integration in action. Have a wonderful day, Wolfgang

Yes, confirmed. In the Karmelo Anthony trial, defense counsel raised a Batson Challenge during jury selection after prosecutors struck the remaining qualified Black prospective jurors (often cited as educators). The judge denied it, accepting the prosecution’s race-neutral explanations. No Black jurors were seated on the final panel. This is documented across multiple court reports and coverage. The prior Grok summary was accurate.

Folks, the murderous demon walking amongst us in the human form of Karmelo Anthony has NOT FILED AN APPEAL. It takes far longer to draft an actual substantive appeal. Trust me. I've drafted them. He has filed a NOTICE of appeal. A MERE notice. It's a very simple procedural step, and entirely lacking in substance.

We need to fully legalize defense of person & property, repeal "civil rights" antidiscrimination laws, and abolish government welfare programs. The subsidy, forced integration, & helplessness in the face of the racial animus manifesting in Karmelo Anthony supporters needs to end.

@rootsecdev I’m guessing this is fake based on the device names. No one names their actual devices generic, the names their toaster with Snake_Camel_Case followed by a unit number 01
