That was a good reality test. If Utah State was even just an average shooting team, the result would have been different. Teams rarely sleepwalk through a game in the tournament come round of 32 and get away with it, which makes Arizona special. Survive and advance.

Comparing to previous Tommy Lloyd teams and what knocked the Cats out of the NCAA Tournament, it was poor 2pt offense AND defense showing up in the same game. Here's a look at those games & comparison to some season averages.

With all the talk of Arizona's lack of 3-pt shooting, my focus this season has been on efficiency of 2-pt offense & defense. That's really where this team is elite when it's clicking on all cylinders. The KU & TTU results leave us with a glass half empty vs. half full scenario.

A third. Utah State played a good game, clogged the middle more effectively than any opponent Arizona has had this year, and they also got away with about twice as many fouls as were called against them, especially hacking Krivas every time he handled the ball and mostly got away with it.
