@ACTBrigitte @SecRubio I'm sure Zelensky would rather fight now than fight again later. That is the kernel of his concern.
English

God this is awful. For three years Zelenskyy has been a public relations genius. But this is not how you play Trump.
Misha Komadovsky@komadovsky
‼️A heated back and forth between @ZelenskyyUa, @POTUS, and @VP now in the Oval.
English

@Squonkistador @emilyjashinsky Zelensky was biting his lip for a number of untruths. Then Vance completely ignored what Zelensky had been saying and ridiculously blamed Biden for causing Putin to invade. That derailed amongst other things Vance immediately went on to sat.
English

@emilyjashinsky Perhaps the most helpful observation yet. The meeting didn’t jump the track until the 40-minute mark, and neither Trump nor Vance derailed it. Regrettably the legacy media who will curate this for the American public aren’t as introspective as Ms. Jashinsky.
English

One of those times where you absolutely have to watch the full meeting and not just the highlights, otherwise you’ll be lost. Love him or hate him, Trump started the meeting by praising Ukraine. Before Zelensky turned to him, Vance started by saying Russia “destroyed” Ukraine. Zelensky decided to turn the meeting into a public spat. Maybe you think he was right to go on offense, but he was absolutely not ambushed.

The absolute arrogance of this man to come hat in hand to OUR country, disrespect our elected leaders with complete lies, all while being ENTIRELY reliant on us for his literal survival
English

@_LukeCSkywalker @mysteriouskat Vance shouldn't be playing political games like he was. Blaming Biden for Putins aggression after what Zelensky had been saying was very disrespectful.
English

@mysteriouskat First rule of negotiation that Zelensky needs to learn is: NEVER put the people on the other side of the table in a position where they feel they need to "save face" (especially on TV). People will blow up the world to save face; this psychology applies universally, beyond Trump
English

I watched the full press conference. I do think it presents a more complete picture of what happened and I wish I had seen it in its entirety before commenting. I wasn't aware there was a longer version.
While it doesn't change my view of the behavior displayed in the ten minute footage, I think Zelensky also deserves some responsibility for this. He showed an error in strategical judgement in trying to discuss some of these things at the press conference rather that behind closed door, which likely caused Vance/Trump to feel more antagonistic and allow them to ultimately scapegoat him as they did. Keep in mind that Zelensky was also unable to fully express his ideas at times due to interruptions and challenges with speaking in a foreign language. I think he could have handled it better, especially knowing the types of personalities he was dealing with, but I still find what happened appalling. I'll not sure whether that was ever going to really impact US support either way though. I suspect minds were already made up to go a certain way.
English

@_LukeCSkywalker @mysteriouskat No it doesn't. Maybe to many politicians buy I respect Zelenskyy Candour and think it was more important than the deal.
English

@SeddsUK @Nigel_Farage Zelenskyy is NOT corrupt or a drug addict and a great leader.
English

Zelensky was clearly provoking and antagonising Vance.
Throughout the 45 minute exchange, Zelensky kept shunning any talk of peace or ceasefires.
Him and Johnson have wanted this war to drag on and on so that they can continue gratifying the globalists and lining their pockets.
Zelensky is a corrupt drug addict and a sorry excuse for a leader.
English

@Westry1120851 @SeddsUK @Nigel_Farage I like that Trump said he like Zelenskyy outfit. Vance was the problem. Trump seemed fairly reasonable.
English

@Nigel_Farage Zelenskyy softly spoken Candour did Ukraine proud
English

@SeddsUK @Nigel_Farage Not at all. There were differences between the two leaders that they were managing. Then Vance was disrespectful of a head of state and ignored everything Zelensky had been saying with nonsense about Biden causing Putins aggression.
English

@vorsecondsleep @ridgemax @EdKrassen Most agree that NATO need to spend more on military. Perhaps NATO membership should require a minimum. Ironically the US will be below that as it aims for 2% GDP itself. The US does have a cumulative affect of past years though.
English

Qualifying it to make yourself feel better doesn't change the reality. It's exactly this Europeans treating America like a fecking ATM that we're so fed up with. We work just as hard for our money to see it siphoned off to a never-ending war that Ukraine will never win. America just pulled out of WHO, and NATO and UN should be next.

BREAKING: After Trump's disgraceful actions at the WH today with President Zelensky major world players just came out to defend Ukraine and Zelensky:
- Donald Trump and JD Vance: You never thank us... waa waa waa.
- Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk: “Dear Zelensky, dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone.”
- President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausea: “Ukraine, you’ll never walk alone.”
- Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen: “Dear Zelensky, Denmark proudly stands with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.”
- French President Emmanual Macron: “There is an aggressor: Russia. There is a people being aggressed: Ukraine. We were all right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago and to continue doing so. We, that’s the Americans, the Europeans, Canadians, Japanese, and many others. Thank you to all those who have helped and continue to do so. And respect to those who, from the beginning, have been fighting. Because they are fighting for their dignity, their independence, for their children, and for the security of Europe.”
- President of Moldova Maia Sandu: “The truth is simple. Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine defends its freedom—and ours. We stand with Ukraine.”
- Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson: “Sweden stands with Ukraine. You are not only fighting for your freedom but also for all of Europe’s. Slava Ukraini! ”
- Incoming German Chancellor Friedrich Mer: “Dear Volodymyr @zelenskyyua, we stand with #Ukraine in good and in testing times. We must never confuse aggressor and victim in this terrible war. (FM)”
- Crotia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenković: “Croatia knows from its own experience that only a just peace can last. The Croatian Government stands firm in its belief that Ukraine needs such a peace - a peace that means sovereignty, territorial integrity, and a secure Europe.”
- Finland’s Prime Minister @PetteriOrpo: “Finland and the Finnish people stand firmly with Ukraine. We will continue our unwavering support and work towards a just and lasting peace.”
- Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal: “We stand united with @ZelenskyyUa and Ukraine in our fight for freedom. Always. Because it is right, not easy.”
- Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris: “Ukraine is not to blame for this war brought about by Russia’s illegal invasion. We stand with Ukraine.“
- Latvia’s President Edgars Rinkevics: “Ukraine is a victim of the Russian aggression. It fights the war with the help from many friends and partners. We need to spare no effort for just and lasting peace. Diplomacy sometimes is the art of the impossible in difficult circumstances. Latvia stands with Ukraine”
- Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Schoof: ”The Netherlands supports Ukraine as firmly as ever. Now more than ever. We want a lasting peace and an end to the war of aggression started by Russia. For Ukraine and its people, and for Europe.”
- Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Friedsen: “Luxembourg stands with Ukraine. You are fighting for your freedom and a rules based international order. ”
The West stands with the heroic Zelensky. Trump sides with the evil Putin. What has America become?

English

@vorsecondsleep @ridgemax @EdKrassen The UN might make some sense. It is useless especially with Russia included. The rest is idiocy including reducing vaccinations causing measles outbreaks. Zelensky wasn't asking for more money. He was merely pointing out Putins history, then Vance derailed it with Biden nonsense.
English

@McFaul Good points all whilst making Zelensky listen to them especially Vance somehow blame Biden for Putins aggression. Biden who Zelensky is surely very thankful to despite placing ridiculous target locality restrictions on US weapons.
English

@piersmorgan To be fair Trump said he liked what Zelensky was wearing and both leaders were accomodating each others differences before Vance derailed it.
English

Absurd question. Elon Musk doesn’t wear a suit in the Oval Office.
Libs of TikTok@libsoftiktok
REPORTER to Zelensky: “Why don’t you wear a suit?! You’re in the highest level of this country’s office and you refuse to wear a suit. Do you own a suit?!” “A lot of Americans have problems with you not respecting this office.”
English

@ridgemax @EdKrassen USA pays more than any other country. Cope.
English

@bonchieredstate There are countries in Europe that have more of an incentive but have given far more tjan the US in aid in relation to their GDP. So that might seem like Zelensky is being antagonistic but actually it is just honesty.
English

@bonchieredstate In fact Zelenskyy was surely biting his tongue as Trump said things like Europe gets it's money back. Something that multiple european heads of state have already corrected Trump on. He can blame Biden for not making it a loan if he wants to but what is the relevance here.
