I always value connecting with our @WHO representatives and their teams across the @WHOEMRO Region. These exchanges are energizing and essential to strengthening our collective impact. In a recent strategy workshop we reflected on 2025, drew key lessons and discussed country-specific challenges, focusing on practical solutions to turn our vision and flagship initiatives into measurable results in 2026. Looking ahead, we’re streamlining integrated programmes, boosting accountability and deepening collaboration. Each WHO Representative identified clear 2026 priorities to ensure WHO remains fit for purpose to support countries and responsive to national needs. Refugees and migrants carry the burden of displacement — from conflict to economic disparities to climate shocks. Key priorities for Phase V include: strengthening health financing, governance, reforms and policy dialogue for self-reliant health systems; strategic planning, evidence-informed priority setting and health systems assessment to improve health sector performance; ensuring integrated, high quality, affordable service delivery, including sexual and reproductive health and noncommunicable disease services, through a PHC approach; and promoting equity, gender equality, and climate resilience.

The World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the Iraqi Ministry of Health, organized a workshop at the National Center for Training and Human Development as part of the WHO expert mission from the Regional Office and Headquarters. ✨ Dr. Awad Mataria, Director of Universal Health Coverage/Health Systems at the Regional Office, delivered a lecture on the roadmap for strengthening health systems.
