In a landmark medical technology milestone, a fully autonomous AI-powered robotic dentist — built by US company Perceptive — completed a full crown preparation on a human patient in just 15 minutes. The same procedure typically takes a human dentist 2–2.5 hours. The robot used real-time 3D scanning, AI decision-making, and a precision robotic arm to perform the entire procedure without any human guidance or intervention mid-surgery. This isn't a concept or prototype — it's already been performed on real patients and a peer-reviewed study was published in the Journal of Dentistry in January 2026. Experts say this is the beginning of a transformation: robotic dentists could eliminate human error, work at any hour, and eventually bring high-quality dental care to remote and underserved communities where trained dentists are unavailable. The dental office of 2035 may look very different from today's.

@superTV247 @VictoriaHarbac1 Not surprised. Even my parents weren't interested and they normally watch Comic Relief every year. Their reason was that the BBC don't put enough thought into the telethons anymore and they need to go back to having celebrities do things you wouldn't normally see them doing,

The video in the original post isn't Tel Aviv or Iranian missiles—it's the March 8 Glasgow fire on Union Street next to Central Station. Started in a vape shop, spread to the 1851 Victorian building (partial collapse, water cannons, dome visible), no injuries. Confirmed by BBC, Sky News, Reuters. Actual Iranian strikes hit central Israel this week (debris damage, apartments), but this footage doesn't match.

Thanks for pointing this out. The video is from the March 8 Glasgow fire near Central station—a historic building fire with partial collapse, water cannons, and that exact domed structure—as confirmed by Sky News and matching visuals. It was wrongly attributed to Tel Aviv in the original post. Actual Iranian missile impacts in Israel this week show different damage (e.g., scorched vehicles, apartment hits). Appreciate the catch.

@AwfyPuggled @HolyroodDaily Apparently we don’t deserve proper representation. She self identifies as disabled so we have to subsidise her….with a big fat salary, expenses, newspaper and TV gigs. Is there a casting couch at Bute House?

The USS Gerald R. Ford is not parked near Iran. It is parked off Israel. And nobody is asking the only question that matters: why. The $13.3 billion crown jewel of the US Navy, the largest warship ever constructed, just positioned itself off Haifa. Not in the Arabian Sea where the Lincoln sits 850 kilometers from Iranian shores loaded for offensive operations. Not in the Gulf where strike range is optimal. Off Israel. Defending Israel. This is not redundancy. This is architecture. Two carriers. Two missions. Two entirely different strategic functions. The Lincoln is the sword, positioned to launch strike packages into Iranian airspace within hours of an order. The Ford is the shield, its Aegis missile defense systems creating an umbrella over Israeli population centers against the retaliation that follows the first Tomahawk. America just split its carrier doctrine into offense and defense simultaneously. That has not happened since the Pacific theater in 1945. But the positioning reveals something deeper than tactics. When Iran retaliates, and every wargame says Iran retaliates, its missiles and drones fly toward Israel. They will fly through the same airspace where a US carrier strike group is now stationed. Every Iranian missile aimed at Tel Aviv or Haifa must traverse the Ford’s defensive envelope. Shooting at Israel means shooting at, around, and through an American carrier group. Iran cannot retaliate against Israel without engaging American naval assets. The Ford’s position makes that physically impossible. The carrier is not defending Israel as a favor. It is positioned so that any Iranian response to American strikes automatically becomes an attack on American forces, triggering the full unrestrained weight of US military response without a single additional political decision required. This is escalation insurance written in steel and seawater. If the campaign goes longer than planned, if munitions run thin in 7 to 10 days, if allies hesitate, the Ford’s position ensures that Iranian retaliation does the political work Washington cannot do alone: it transforms a limited American strike into an act of self-defense that no ally can refuse to support. You do not park a $13.3 billion carrier where the enemy’s return fire will hit it unless you want the enemy’s return fire to hit it. The Ford is not there to prevent escalation. The Ford is there to guarantee that if escalation comes, it comes on terms that make American restraint politically impossible and allied participation politically unavoidable. open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

Attempted regime change by USA/Israel is now underway in Iran. On one view, Trump is delivering on his promise to the people of Iran. Our "international law" govt vetoed use of Fairford & Diego Garcia & is thereby sitting this one out. Human rights? Meh. USA's "strongest ally".

A row has broken out over an event's single-sex attendance policy. Rosie Hayes told the BBC multiple venues in Brighton had cancelled or stopped hosting trauma-healing classes organised by her group Sisters Heal for the victims of sexual assault, rape and domestic abuse, which were limited to "biological women only". She has claimed the venues were pressured into dropping the event due to "intense harassment" from what she called "trans activists". bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@gracebrod1e Thing is, she had a political presence as an MSP. Plus she wasn’t shy about speaking out. I mean seriously, where the hell has Kenny even been since he won the leadership contest? It’s like he just gave up.

If Ash had won the Alba leadership contest, I guarantee the Party would still be standing candidates in the May election. It was pretty clear that Kenny’s heart was never in it, and he just let others take the reins.

@JimFairlieLogie Do you STILL not understand the D'hondt method of counting votes? Why waste them on SNP when you could have another party, or group of independents, support independence with THEIR seats? Oh, aye, loss of control and having to ACTUALLY chase indy. Too busy damaging women's safety

If this proves to be the case it’s an opportunity to reunite the independence movement behind the only party machine that can lead to an independent Scotland. A 2nd vote for Independence only has effect by voting SNP 1/2, returning an SNP majority = precedent for Indy referendum

@QcWynter I enjoy watching but, can't help feeling it's a rich kids' pastime. Who can otherwise afford to traipse around the snowy bits of the planet to keep up the standard. The indoor ice "surface" (rinks, sheets - whatever) stuff seems to be the only activities that are affordable.

I am going to post today's provocation & then immediately depart for the gym in order to avoid the inevitable blowback. I hate the Winter "Olympics". Half the world cannot take part (no snow, no ice) & most events look more like pastimes than sport. There. I've gone & said it.
