This would make me sad and I don’t believe in keeping compartmentalized secrets like this, but I do believe modern cohabitation starves a relationship of mystique and inspiration. Living things need room to breathe. Lovers must intentionally create their own sanctuaries and private routines, maybe even take the occasional solo pilgrimage or quest, not to create distance but to return with something. To gather more tinsel and baubles for the magpie nest, more fuel for the fire.

None of this excuses the adults who abused her, obviously. All of them should be locked up. And the girl needs long term psychiatric help and should be committed for a long time.
