I’m pleased to report that the first ever surgeon led IDE pilot study of the DaVinci Single Port Robot for Foregut and HPB operations has successfully started at AdventHealth Tampa. Our first patient underwent Cholecystectomy through a 12mm incision hidden in the belly button. The operation went very smoothly without any intra-operative complications. This is an exciting time to be able to offer operations we used to do through a single incision laparoscopically now through a fully robotic approach with incredible precision and visualization. We have come a long way with this brilliant technology. Applying this state of the art innovation to gradually more complex operations, I believe will optimize patients surgical outcomes.
