Here's the 101 to joymaxxing:
(From someone who went from depression to tearing up multiple times a day from sheer joy/gratitude)
FOUNDATIONS:
> joy & unconditional happiness is your natural state of being (think childhood)
> it's not earned but revealed - like the clouds parting revealing the sun that was always there
> it's entirely a process of subtraction
(which runs counter intuitive to your default programming that always wants MORE MORE MORE)
> any attempt to force the process or will, force or achieve your way into this natural state will fail
(creating more mental turmoil in the process)
STEP 1: CLEARING
Write down all your re-occurring negative thoughts
All the old stories
All the limiting beliefs you're aware of
All the things that come up "randomly" when you're driving your car or falling asleep
Get it all out on paper
OBJECTIFY this content of your mind
Realize you are the WITNESS in which this arises
AKA your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and perspectives are not what you fundamentally are
It feels like "me" and 100% "real" because you have an attention skill issue
When attention "hooks" onto a thought - it gives it reality
You need to learn to unhook your attention from your thoughts and learn to see them as noise
(More on that in a moment)
Realize that you were born a blank canvas
Just pure awareness/presence
Everything that you have taken to be you for decades is conditioning
Caveat: The parts of yourself that feel joyous, light and free are the real you
All the rest that makes you feel lacking, unworthy and crap are the conditioning
Iron Rule: Conditioning always carries a heaviness to it
It's a position to defend
Easiest way to recognize conditioning is if it has an energetic signature of "should"
NOW - Go through all of the stuff you wrote down and start to curiously question it from this witness POV
Question where you learned to beat yourself up
Where you learned you're not enough as you are
Where you learned your emotions are not ok
Where you learned you need to be stressed to make money
Where you learned that validation is "out there"

Etc
THE GOAL:
Start to question & clear out the crap that you've been identified with that's making you miserable
Start to see it's not you and you don't NEED to believe it
THE POV: You are the PLAYER of the game of life - not the character
Thing of this as editing your characters states, passive abilities etc

STAGE 2: Re-training your mind
This is absolutely foundational to living a life of joy
If your attention is buzzing between 8 different things every 10 seconds
The truth is...you're cooked
If you're washing the dishes and trying to solve 12 different big life problems at the same time...
You're cooked
You can start in as little as 10-mins a day
It's going to absolutely suck in the beginning
Because you're dealing with decades of conditioning you've specifically designed your life & personality around avoiding
Go slow, go steady
To start, simply:
> Sit
> set a 10-min timer
> Gently & softly focus on your breath
> When your mind wanders (it will..A LOT)
> Recognize the wandering (this is not a bad thing - It's a great thing - + XP unlocked)
> Relax your body & mind to "unhook" attention from thoughts
> Return to your breath
> Repeat 100x
Build this habit & progressively overload to 20-mins over time
For me in the beginning - It would take around 20-mins just to start to get the mind to settle
Now it takes 10 seconds
This - Like anything - Is a skill
And it's probably THE most important skill you'll learn
You can also practice this throughout the day
In fact..to make real progress..you kind of have to
"Oh, I'm thinking about XYZ B.S thing right now instead of what's in front of me...
Let me relax & return to my breath"
STAGE 3: Embracing Emotions & Inner Tension
99% of your thoughts are the result of avoiding an emotional experience
A huge % of your personality is built to avoid feeling something in your body
To experience more joy - You must be willing to embrace the full spectrum of human emotion
And start to see the beauty in FEELING
Grief - sadness - anger - fear - doubt - Shame
All of these become FUCKING BEAUTIFUL when you fully embrace them
This is NOT a mental process
It's a pure feeling/somatic process
Whenever you notice yourself stuck in a thought loop
Ask yourself:
"What am I avoiding feeling right now?"
It's probably a tension in your chest
Or a contracted feeling in your gut
These unpleasant feelings are PORTALS TO PRESENCE and inner peace
All you need do?
Fully embrace them
Welcome them
Be with them
SOFTEN towards them instead of hardening up & pulling away
The more you allow yourself to feel
The more vibrantly alive and incredible life becomes
We are deeply feeling beings
To live a purely mental/intellectual life is an extremely unpleasant & ineffective way to live
Move from a mental life to an ENERGETIC life
There is no spoon
Just energy
You block the natural flow whenever you THINK about your problems instead of FEELING through them
ACCEPT your feelings
SOFTEN towards them
(they are innocent and pure! They only want you to be free - They just don't know how to bring you there)
WELCOME them fully
BE with them
Offer them the loving presence your Mum offered you when you were 4 yrs old and had a nightmare
That loving presence at the side of your bed that dissolved fear and let you fall asleep?
Same exact stuff

GRATITUDE:
When you feel more calm, clear and at ease in your own life
Tuning into gratitude can turbocharge your life & bring you into next level JOY
When you're present - Gratitude tends to arise naturally
But given you are the energy bending witness wizard of your life
Why not give it a little nudge in the right direction
I'm at a point where just noticing the sensations of breath in my nostrils
Or a bird flying the sky
Or just making eye contact with my daughter...
Can all trigger tear inducing levels of bliss and thankfulness
Gratitude is an absolute super power and the simplest way to access "higher states of consciousness"
Which really just means better feeling states of energy
Now - Disclaimer - this is a super hard & fast guide
But a good place to get some inspiration on how to begin from
And in my 1:1 work with clients I've seen profound transformations occur when putting some of this into action
I've seen clients:
⚡️Improve their sleep (30-mins to fall asleep to 2-mins)

Most people do not know themselves.
This much is obvious.
But the degree to which they do not know themselves…
Is astonishing.
Take a very basic example.
To what degree are you aware of which foods agree with you best?
It’s likely that you have not ever explicitly and consciously identified.. “If I eat THIS meal before the gym… that is when my physical performance is at its BEST.”
Further... knowing exactly WHEN/HOW SOON is another aspect.
Struck me when I heard Jay Cutler talking about having figured it out precisely.
His answer was, just chicken and rice, one hour before. A protein shake while training, and shortly after finishing the workout, the same as he had before.
Understood himself and his body to an exact science. (And yes, it helps that this was his career and entire focus in life.)
Extrapolate this across all facets of life.
Showing up feeling and performing your best is not random. It’s cause and effect.
MOST people pay attention to neither cause and effect.
SOME people pay attention to effects.
And VERY FEW pay attention to BOTH, to such a degree that they know themselves, their body, their mind, their energy… inside and out.
It’s these FEW that are able to evolve very rapidly across EVERY FACET OF LIFE.
You must learn to see the connections between all things.

The man who sleeps nine hours and eats clean and never drinks and exercises daily is the deadest man i know btw. his bloodwork is immaculate and he has nothing to say. the body is a temple and no God showed up. meanwhile the ones who actually see things are running on four hours and cigarettes and something chewing at them from inside that wont let them become vegetables. consciousness is expensive it costs health. you pay with the body. the flame eats the candle thats the deal
