@ClashRobin Would also argue shoegaze has to, particularly when looking at the resurgence of bands like Slowdive and Ride whose music is as relevant now as it ever was and in the case of the former, are bigger now than they ever were first time round.

You can name a lot of alternative examples obvs, but trip hop holds up extremely well due to the phenomenal standard of audio engineering. Records that *sound* as good as that will resonate in any era.

Trip hop has aged incredibly well. Portishead, Tricky and Massive Attack sound great today. Name any other niche time specific genre that doesn't sound embarrassing and clunky 20 or 30 years after its heyday.
