@CoachJagged @olympicbean @Strxtego Obviously. Dip shit. Does Miles Bridges have 5+ rings? I’m talking about the lay up. Players are more skilled nowadays, and are making great moves all the time. The average NBA fan is desensitized to great individual plays because it happens all the time unlike MJs era.

@KnowbodysTweets Was prior to Bulls making a run. “Hey why weren’t the Jazz beating the Shaq Kobe lakers the greatest western conference run ever” “Hey how come Steph beating Lebron 3/4 not the greatest run ever” Brain dead stuff

If MJ is the GOAT, how come Isiah Thomas beating him 3 years in a row, twice for back to back chips… how come that’s not the greatest championship run?

The Wizards could’ve arrived here with Avdija if they didn’t waste 4 years giving touches to Westbrook, Dinwiddie and other mid PGs. They drafted a 6-8 point forward but didn’t give him the ball. Never made sense. The Blazers figured out how to use Deni basically right away.

Deni Avdija was 4th on my 2020 board. All signs were there pre-draft that he could become a point forward. Mike Schmitz called him the steal of the draft when he fell to #9 for the Wizards. Now Schmitz is in the Blazers front office and they went and got him. Not a coincidence.

Kevin, you were once respected in this space but slowly but surely your credibility is folding.. While this isn’t just about this szn’s MVP and you putting Mr Ethical who came off the bench most of his games and barely made the cut to be even in the convo over a guy that won it last szn, is even better then he was last szn, carrying the 2nd most injured team in the entire association to the #1 seed & the best record in the league, breaking records that weren’t even supposed to be broken ( 20+pts) the most efficient player at his position in league history, we can go on and on.. While this isn’t a knock on you in a disrespectful personal way, I will say this is without question a bad look for you in your profession where your job is literally to do nothing but report on analytics.. Bad look Kevin.. 🫡

With Victor Wembanyama on the floor, the Spurs generate far more layups for their point guard trio — a trio I spent all summer convinced wasn’t an ideal fit. De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper are three downhill guards and none of them is a proven knockdown shooter. On paper the spacing math didn’t work. Mitch Johnson solved it by playing only one or two of them together at once. And Wemby handled the rest. Harper’s at-rim frequency jumps 15.5% with Wemby on the floor. Castle, 14.2%; Fox, 9.7%. More shots at the rim is one piece. More shots going in at a higher rate is the other. Every rotation player sees a jump, not just the guards. Devin Vassell’s true shooting climbs from 55.2% to 60.8%. Harrison Barnes from 58% to 64.7%. Julian Champagnie from 58.4% to 63.3%. Fox is the exception — his true shooting stays the same. Some of this increase is thanks to transition offense off stops. Most of it is Wemby’s gravity in the half-court. Gravity comes in different flavors. The first is simple spacing: his shooting pulls a big out of the paint and the guards drive into an empty lane. The more interesting one is what happens when he rolls. When off-ball defenders decide to stay home on shooters, the big man still needs to prevent a lob to Wemby, which means Fox, Castle and Harper can go one-on-one with a full head of steam and walk into layups. Of the nearly 400 handler/screener duos to log at least 100 pick-and-rolls this season, Fox/Wemby, Castle/Wemby and Harper/Wemby all rank in the 88th percentile or better in scoring efficiency. None of this shows up on his line. Wemby finishes those possessions with zero points and zero assists and jogs back down the floor, and the box score insists nothing happened. Something happened.

My 2026 NBA MVP ballot: 1. Victor Wembanyama 2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 3. Nikola Jokic I spent most of the season assuming I'd vote SGA. Then I looked closer. New column on @YahooSports: sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/th…

@TCole59 Yup depending on the player and the budget. Aday Mara averaged 6 ppg last season and was the most important player on the National Championship team this year. Reibe averaged 5 ppg for UConn this season; he will demand $1+ million.

Every college basketball coach tells players not to place their value solely in scoring, preaching that “a good player can be effective without necessarily scoring.” However, coaches now use points per game as a metric to assess a player’s value. Unbelievably hypocritical.
Jeff Goodman@GoodmanHoops

One high-major head coach to me: “This has become a joke. We got guys who averaged 3 points a game asking for a million dollars. It’s completely out of control.”

Ding. Ding. Ding. It’s not the top kids that this system will fail. It’s the kids who make $500k and then $600k. They graduate, their careers sputter out and then go to get an office job and make $75k. What are they going to do then. The ncaa won’t care…

Bill Simmons questions Cam Boozer’s ceiling in the NBA: “I watched a lot of Duke over the last 5 weeks. His big go to move is he basically bullies you and does these little spin moves and ends up with the same little jump hook or turn around. His goal is always to get as close to the basket as possible. Which you can do in High school and even do in College. I don’t know if you can do that in the NBA as comfortably” (Via Bill Simmons Podcast)
