People ask me why I live in Mankato. I just show them this. Only 45 minutes from Minneapolis. Most people drive right past it. This is Mount Kato, and it might be the most breathtaking view in the entire state of Minnesota. You have to see it to believe it. #onlyinmn #mn

Easily the single most important piece of equipment worn by today’s football players. We’ve avoided so many injuries by making sure the kids keep these in and don’t roll their pants up past their knees

Working a triangle on single ball carrier with no blocking is pure stupidity. Also, how soft are both defenders for going low on the ball carrier. It’s 3 of y’all and you’re cutting his legs. Not to mention being terrible teammates. Outlaw this dumb ass drill now. It’s on the coach. The players are just doing what they are told!

@Toohey_sp @MarkHoover71 Talent makes a lot of people look and feel very smart. Being blessed with talent (especially early in a career) gives the impression that “see, my stuff is why”. That tends to make it hard to be willing to learn and any failure becomes “those damn kids” instead of process.

Glad @MarkHoover71 pointed this out. When teams win it becomes nearly impossible for people to see there can still be flaws in the preparation process. I don’t care how many regions or state titles a program has, bad training is bad training that can be masked by having talent.
Mark Hoover@MarkHoover71

@Toohey_sp @EastlandStrong Yeah but if they “win some ball games” then clearly they are doing everything right and there is no way they could be better…😎🤣👊

“If legislation is required to mandate the most basic function of an English class, that’s not a policy failure, it’s a professional one. That says something interesting about state certification of educators.”🎯
Robert Pondiscio@rpondiscio

New from yours truly for @AEIeducation, proposed model legislation would require middle and high school students to read “at least two books in their entirety per semester in all English Language Arts classes.” Should states adopt the "BOOKS Act?" aei.org/education/shou…

@TS_Secrets Well said. Unfortunately “leaders” see this and think, let’s create another admin job to look into how we can address this.

Want to read something scary? This chart highlights something that’s hard to ignore. Since 2000, public schools have seen: Student growth: +5% Teacher growth: +10% Principal growth: +39% Administrative staff growth: +95% That’s a significant increase in overhead compared to actual classroom growth. It raises an important question: Are we investing in education… or in systems around education? At the same time, we’re facing: A growing skilled labor shortage Rising student debt Increasing pressure on teachers There’s a disconnect between where resources are going and where impact is needed. It may be time to rethink how we define effective education and what outcomes we’re truly optimizing for.

@FixingEducation It’s because the kid that tries will still show up, the other one isn’t being reached because his grades are a concern, the funding that student represents is the concern. Teachers are told they’re being compassionate but all that “reach” is what burns out 90% of teachers.

Schools spend hours trying to “reach” the kid who openly doesn’t care, while the kid who tries every day quietly gets ignored. We’re exhausting ourselves chasing resistance instead of investing in effort.

The best Strength program gets 5-10lbs increases every few weeks for months/years on end. That’s what we all are actually trying to accomplish. It’s the accumulation of small progressions over time that leads to monster transformations.

I’ve been critical of a lot of tackling videos on here, but this by far is the worst offender… I’m am all for TOUGH GUYS and being ANTI-FRAGILE but this is not it. It’s bad for players and bad for the game. This is the way a lot of old timers like myself learned to tackle, but it’s not sustainable and sooner or later it will (did) catch up with you. The issue we have now is that we have over corrected in the way the majority of tackling is being taught. The emphasis on eliminating the use of the head and helmet is a GOOD thing but many of the techniques we are teaching are confusing and counter intuitive to how tackling actually works. There is sweet spot to hit, but 1st we need to understand and come to a real definition of what good tackling is, what works and how to be more effective and teaching it.
