@axiochrono I also say this because, in my experience, most beginner speculative fiction writers tend to err on the side of vague descriptions and it’s better to be too precise and dial it back a smidge than start out too vague, that’s a much harder lift in revisions

@axiochrono it’s better to be precise *while* keeping to the voice of your manuscript, if a certain character is known to be broad-shouldered, “the corridor was the width of three Jonases side by side” instead of “the corridor was wide” or “the corridor was 6.7 feet wide”

This is unironically the single greatest piece of writing advice I've ever seen.
