Yesterday, I was trying to book a train ticket. The moment the site opened around 4:30pm, Coach 1 was already fully booked. I panicked and quickly checked Coach 2, which was almost full as well. But let me tell you what really happened when I got to the train station this morning. People were there buying tickets directly from staff. That means a large number of seats were likely held back and later sold at outrageous prices. That is not business. It feels criminal. Situations like this are why progress feels so difficult. When systems are manipulated and ordinary people are forced to pay more just to survive, it damages trust and fairness. Nigeria cannot move forward if integrity is constantly sacrificed for quick profit.

I met my county mayor at a restaurant today. It's a small city of 45k people. His office will manage a budget of $320 million for 2026, that’s over ₦425 billion. That’s slightly more than Ekiti State’s entire budget for the same year. He walked in with just one person, had lunch, then left in his sedan and drove off. Meanwhile, a former LGA chairman in Rivers State, with an annual budget of ₦20 billion, appoints 100 PAs and had a legion of able-bodied youth following him everywhere. Poor people with a fake big-man mentality, living off scarce resources.
