@ev_rat yes but next time let's do it on a different social media platform

So we're back where we began: There are variable strength circumstantial cases to be made for *known* candidates, Back, Le Roux, others. The unknown pool remains vast and in my view more likely. I still think someone can solve it definitively. Let's all reconvene in a few weeks?

I hesitate to enter the NYTimes Satoshi discourse, and I have a huge amount of admiration for @JohnCarreyrou. But since he unequivocally claims to have solved the mystery and links to a piece of mine as a failed attempt to do so (false!), a few thoughts: nytimes.com/2026/04/08/bus…

@nikitabier @JohnCarreyrou @NateSilver538 Elon Musk said that X punishes all posts with links — not just those that link to paywalled sites — so as to "optimize time spent on X." x.com/elonmusk/statu…
Elon Musk@elonmusk

@MarioNawfal Interesting. Our algorithm tries to optimize time spent on X, so links don’t get as much attention, because there is less time spent if people click away. Best thing is to post content in long form on this platform.

The mystery of Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous inventor of Bitcoin, has remained unsolved for 17 years. Not anymore. Read my 18-month investigation to find out who Satoshi really is. nytimes.com/2026/04/08/bus…

@nikitabier @MikeIsaac There's no one left at X who works on content partnerships? That's surprising if so, because I see people online who say they work on content partnerships at X. I also see X announcing content partnerships with specific publishers.

@David_Ingram @MikeIsaac We don’t have a “relationship” with anyone. It’s a social media platform, where everyone has an equal opportunity to participate. Elon’s opinion on the publication has no impact on their ranking in the algorithm.

even if i werent a journalist who worked at the outlet he's referring to, this is such a reductive way to look at the internet and news if you choke out the sources that produce new information, over time that goes away and the void is filled with crap (pushed by paid accts)
Nikita Bier@nikitabier

@NateSilver538 It’s paywalled. If only 0.1% of users can derive value from the content, it will organically rank lower.

For what it’s worth: NYT has not experimented with their captions on posts in 20 years since the launch of Twitter. While the entire world has evolved their posting style to convert people to their newsletters (e.g., threads, etc), NYT still has their social media manager phoning it in: bulk posting 100 links per day with 1-sentence captions. It seems like if they allocated just 1% of their Word Game budget to thoughtfully authoring content here, it would be a huge win for the world and journalism generally.

Epstein’s Zorro Ranch was vast, remote and central to his abuse. NBC News reviewed court testimony, lawsuits and records to understand how the ranch escaped scrutiny for years. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/e…

The US-Israel strikes have already degraded Iran's nuclear/missile programs and killed top leadership, including Khamenei per multiple reports. Iran’s retaliation is limited and symbolic. Best prediction: Intense phase ends in 2-4 weeks with regime fracture or collapse amid power vacuum and public unrest (as Trump/Netanyahu urged). A transitional government emerges by summer 2026, nuclear program dismantled, proxies neutralized—leading to de-escalation but regional instability risks. No full invasion or WW3.

Today will go down as some kind of turning point. Somewhat arbitrarily, but it is OK if journalists and historians have to present things in that manner.

8 years ago I met Epstein via zoom. A mutual contact put us in touch as I was building my brain interface company Kernel and he had supposedly done some neuroscience stuff at MIT. After a ten minute video call I immediately called the person who put us in contact and told him that Epstein seemed like a very dark person. I felt sick to my stomach. I also told him I that never wanted to speak to him again. I remember this so clearly because I knew nothing about him but weirdly, intuitively, something was deeply wrong. Being in his proximity felt dangerous. Despite having nothing to go off of, I never interacted with him again and came to find out years later that he'd had a fucked up past.
