@VishalKOfficial TVK played themselves. Padding their list with Congress MLAs killed their 'single largest party' advantage. By turning into a post-poll coalition, they handed Gov Arlekar the perfect legal excuse to demand 118 seats upfront. Massive unforced error from pure inexperience.

Just like the same scenario that happened in 2017 /18 in Goa, Manipur,Meghalaya and most importantly in Karnataka. The government was formed and then was asked to prove their majority in the “floor test “ in the assembly. Why is the governor of Tamil Nadu hesitating to give #thalapathyvijay the chance to form the government in the same manner. What is the respect for the people s mandate?????? We hav 233 mla s to be sworn in and we need a government and not a governor s rule after such a big mandate by #tvk with almost majority seats to form the government. These fundamental rights are known not just to politicians but to the most powerful force. The people of Tamil Nadu. Dear vijay. You should/will form the government. I as a voter am manifesting it. @TVKVijayHQ

Vijay had already won it🫶🏻 PMK, TTV, and Premalatha together can easily bring 6 seats anytime. But he prefers CPI, CPM, and VCK for the same number for a good reason. 😊 I believe Vijay & #TVK will stay firm against the BJP & win this challenge ✨

@srivatsayb This is where Vijay has gone wrong ! He should have claimed govt formation basis your own numbers . When you present a letter of support as an alliance then the alliance is falling short of the majority . Please have some legal experts handling these critical ones.

BJP controlled Governor’s rulebook reads two different things, depending on who the single largest party is. KARNATAKA, MAY 2018 • Results declared 15 May. BJP - single largest with 104 of 224. Eight short of the majority mark of 112. • Congress (78) + JD(S) (37) = 115 seats. (More than majority). With supporting MLAs, signatures of 117 MLAs were submitted to the Governor staking claim. • Vote share: Congress 38.14%, BJP 36.35%. Congress polled more votes than BJP. • 16 May: Governor Vajubhai Vala invites the BJP - the party with fewer seats than the post-poll alliance, and fewer votes than the Congress alone. • 17 May: BSY sworn in as CM. • Governor’s gift: 15 days to “prove majority” on the floor of the House. • Supreme Court intervenes the same week. Slashes the window to ~24 hours. • 19 May: BSY resigns 10 minutes before the trust vote. Tenure: 2.5 days. The principle invoked in 2018: invite the single largest party first; let the floor of the House decide the rest. TAMIL NADU, MAY 2026 • Results declared 4 May. TVK is single largest with 108 of 234. Ten short of the majority mark of 118. • 5 May: Congress (5) backs TVK. Combined tally: 113. Five short. • 6 May: Vijay meets Governor Rajendra Arlekar at Lok Bhavan, stakes claim as the single largest party, submits the Congress letter of support. • 7 May: Governor’s official communiqué , the requisite majority support … has not been established.” Demand: produce signed letters from 118 MLAs before any swearing-in. • 3 days since result. No invitation. No oath. No 15-day window. No floor test. Not even a date. The principle suddenly invoked in 2026: produce 118 signatures inside Raj Bhavan before you can become Chief Minister. Why this ARITHMETIC OF DOUBLE STANDARDS? Same Constitution. Same Sarkaria Commission. Same S.R. Bommai (1994). Same Rameshwar Prasad (2006). The rulebook bends for BJP? When BJP is the single largest party, the floor of the House is sacred. When BJP is not, Lok Bhavan becomes the new floor. BJP will pay heavily for this new type of Vote Chori.

@SupriyaShrinate Governor is absolutely clear. If the state falls into instability, he will be blamed for acting in haste. This is a matured and measured approach. Also, Congress is desperate

The time has come for a serious debate on the relevance of Governors in states. Why should the country continue to bear the burden of BJP puppets in Raj Bhavans - whose sole aim is to push the BJP’s partisan agenda, harass the opposition, and undermine the people’s mandate?

In a hung Assembly, the Governor’s role is simple: invite the formation with the clearest path to a majority and let it prove the numbers on the floor of the House. In Tamil Nadu, TVK is the single largest party. Congress has publicly backed Vijay, and letters of support have reportedly been submitted. That still does not mean Vijay has 118 yet , but it does mean he has the strongest visible claim to be given the first chance. Instead, the Governor’s delay and repeated “not satisfied” line only creates room for alternative combinations, pressure tactics and horse-trading. That is why this looks political. The issue is not wether Vijay already has the numbers. The issue is that Raj Bhavan seems unwilling to let the Assembly test whether he can get them. Political move. Bad for Democracy.

Majorities are decided on floor of assembly not in Lok/Raj Bhavans: listen in to @sanjayuvacha
IndiaToday@IndiaToday

The Governor cannot rule the state, especially when a new Assembly has been elected. He has to ask someone who, in his opinion, commands the confidence of the House... The Raj Bhavan cannot be a substitute for the Assembly.- @sanjayuvacha This mandate was against the #DMK. It was against the #AIADMK. It was for #Vijay. And any attempt made by any constitutional authority to subvert the mandate is grossly unfair.- @sumanthraman #NewsToday @SardesaiRajdeep

Governments are not decided on the lawns of Lok bhavan. They are decided on the floor of the House. மாநில அரசுகள் லோக் பவனின் புல்வெளிகளில் தீர்மானிக்கப்படுவதில்லை; அவை சட்டப்பேரவையின் தளத்தில்தான் தீர்மானிக்கப்படுகின்றன.
