There are deep historical forces: The dismantling of the FCC fairness doctrine by Reagan, the resulting emergence of Fox News, conservative talk radio, and other propaganda outlets, the removal of guardrails for the influence of money in politics (e.g. Citizen United), the continuous reduction of taxes on high incomes, the ever-increasing wealth and income inequalities enabled by the above, the stagnation of working class income despite continued increase in productivity (and corporate profits), the total lack of social protection and benefits compared to other developed countries. People in the middle class and below have been screwed for 40 years and are angry. They should be angry at Republicans. But the Republican party has managed to deflect their anger towards immigrants, non-Christians, non-whites, liberals, LGBT, China, academia, intellectual "elites", scientists, journalists, and non-existent scarecrows like Antifa.

@NimaZeighami @benz145 I noticed this with the Varjo headset that had the secondary high res display in the center: I didn’t mind the lower PPD in the periphery because anything I really wanted to see I was rotating my head to look at anyway.

@NimaZeighami @benz145 That wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing…central ppd *should* be prioritized. We naturally turn our head towards anything we want to scrutinize. It’s uncomfortable to look to the side for very long. If you want to look there, you move your head to center your eyeballs.

Glad to see Meta and Snap starting to share PPD for their headsets as a standard metric. This has always been the best way to understand the resolution of a VR headset because it accounts for both pixel count and field-of-view.

I know the aviation buffs are going to appreciate this one: the first flight of the XB-70 Valkyrie – 60 years ago yesterday! Despite its limited service-life and troubled development history, the Valkyrie stands as one of the great and awe-inducing planes of all time. It was marvel of innovation and boundary-pushing aeronautical engineering. Only two Valkyries were built; one exists today @AFMuseum in Dayton, Ohio – the other was lost in a mid-air collision that tragically resulted in the deaths of NASA Chief Test Pilot Joe Walker and Carl Cross. The Valkyrie represents a truly amazing aviation story!

@agarwal @geteero You have to set up UniFi Console software to operate the whole system, you have to update all the firmware or things get weird, and the configuration options in the Console are endless. And don't reinstall your OS or you have to reset everything and start over...ask me how I know

I decided to upgrade my @geteero setup to be all WiFi 6 devices and omg everything is so fucking buggy. I’ve wasted hours trying to get all the routers connected. Totally regret doing this. I wish Apple still made routers 😢

I think you either need to go Focals By North light weight glanceable info , or do a quest3/vision pro high performance large device Or spend ten years and X billion trying to make something in a rayban form factor with a bit more functionality than Focals by north, Halfway between a Focals by north and a quest3 is a graveyard of bad ideas
