I think @MarathonTheGame will have to get more accessible to attract more players. I hope they keep things like Cryo and Ranked pretty hardcore for that crowd - but I'd be shocked if the game didn't start changing direction - I'm not sure what would be the best thing to change

6 weeks after the announcement of Marathon having a brand new "Fog of War" anti-cheat system to limit wall hacks, cheaters are now making hacking montages on YouTube. This user in the gameplay has been playing the game since launch and uploads them onto his YouTube channel

Marathon is officially shutting down this year (allegedly) 70% of players already quit after 1 month. In the past 4 days alone, it lost 9000 players There is no doubt about it. This game is dying and will be shut down

@Cliff_Hensley @DrewskysChannel Thanks for your perspective, friend. I agree with you, honestly. But for me personally it’s a hit or miss, maybe it is a EU thing. Many people just don’t use mic or shy to speak in English, so the percentage of people who communicate openly and clearly is not great.

So here’s my advice and two cents on joy and randomness… I unironically *love* playing crew fill. It led to me building some of my strongest crews. I had to rely on it exclusively at first because none of my gamer friends play Marathon. My suggestion to people relying on crew fill is to do what I did: Make crew fill a fun, random audition for putting your dream team together, or to help random new players out and show them the way. When I really vibe with someone in the fill or have strong playstyle synergy with them, I blind send friend requests right after. Not everyone accepts of course! But over the first 20 hours of play this way, I ended up building a large friend list to crew up with, a stable of effective crew mixes to brave with the rocks and the skills to brave the higher threat maps. I think this is the way for people relying on fills who want out of fills or to be able to use fill less. But love fills, never knowing what you’re gonna get and then rolling with it is fun and sometimes you make new gamer friends. And I am casual AF. And as a casual player I haven’t had this much fun in an FPS game since like Halo 2.

Finished all factions today! Lots of thoughts about experiencing the full gameplay loop and how endgame feels. I love the loop & offers consistency. I fear some players won't be able to experience the full spectrum, and I want them to have a better bite-sized taste of that.

Why is Marathon all over my timeline while the numbers are crashing with only 36k player peak today? There's an endless amount of people promoting and defending it I neither like nor dislike the game. I'm simply curious and confused

Marathon has totally hooked me. The deeper I get, the more impressed I am by the level of design and creativity Bungie managed to pull off. It's so much more than just first person Arc Raiders, a game I also loved, but now I can't see going back to.
