Since this only effects the Playstation and not the Xbox version for couch co-op. It's obviously a Playstation problem, despite everyone blaming Microsoft.

Next Halo has forced DOUBLE ONLINE DRM even for couch co-op! We used to just take our saves with us on a thumb drive, but they don't even allow that anymore. Well, guess we need to look at the positives. Our test won't take long. (Screenshot from Halo Waypoint)

@WindowsCentral It’s because of the cross-platform, cross-save/progression via the requisite Microsoft account. By contrast, I don’t think Gears of War Reloaded works that way on PS5 with regard to local co-op.

I tried to break down Halo Campaign Evolved’s split‑screen requirement, and it’s still baffling.
Both accounts need PlayStation Plus, even locally?
Players aren’t wrong to be confused.
"Look, I'm excited for Halo: Campaign Evolved, and I'll be picking it up on both PC and Xbox. That doesn't change the fact that this situation sucks for PlayStation players, and I genuinely hope Halo Studios or whoever is responsible for this can address it before launch."

It's too expensive for a console gamer (by a wide, wide margin), and the functionality is far too limited for genuine PC gamers.

@PigeonGoGaming From the whispers I've heard (which could be from the same folk), all remaining employees will be on ESVI and Fallout 5. Not all other teams are gone, but some will be part of the Fallout factory like there is an army of teams on COD.

According to video game producer, George Broussard...
⚰️ He expects layoffs at Zenimax to be announced either today or Monday!
He says that basically everything outside of #Bethesda has either:
- Lost money
- Barely broken even
- Made only a tiny bit of money
🫰 The new XBOX management team is planning to continue with company wide layoffs, as XBOX prioritizes profit margins.

With these Zenimax cuts, we could see layoffs at ID Software due to the underperformance of DOOM THE DARK AGES. Same with Machine Games. Or even worse, we could possibly see Arkane Lyon getting shut down 💀

The problem with this argument is that to lure people to a subscription service for games, there has to be games people would want to play on it.
No one wanted to play those games.
COD being exclusive would've done that, but the FCC was so desperately trying to protect PlayStation that they made Phil cave into the 10 year assurance that COD wouldn't go exclusive.
