@MarkMantis Are male/female the same as masculine/feminine? I’ve thought of them as related but distinct.

@EamonWilson6 You should be able to learn to balance vulnerability with toughness. It’s more of a human thing versus masculine / feminine.

Been thinking as a Christian guy: churches push vulnerability & openness as discipleship essentials (bearing burdens, confessing sins—which is good). But we also need self-control, restraint, & discernment. The tilt toward one way of relating feels unbalanced—almost like favouring a more 'feminine' style—and it shortchanges men & holistic maturity. Men are even chastised by some for not being open enough, despite the real reasons men have for restraint. Scripture holds both in tension. Thoughts?

@EamonWilson6 I think you are right - the Scripture holds both in tension. Jesus modeled incredible vulnerability in the Garden of Gethsemane but he shared most intimately with his 3 closest friends rather than all the disciples.

@lilly_mirren @FlagrantP @smashbaals You are limiting the semantic range of this word to shepherd/minister for the sake of your argument., which is dishonest. You know how else it can be translated (servant) if you are familiar with Greek.

@FlagrantP @smashbaals Actually that word means a literal shepherd. We do use that metaphor when we talk about shepherding people. But “minister” is what most of the world calls the role that Americans call “pastor”. In the Bible that was “diakonos” (minister).

To any future historians reading this, this era will make a lot more sense if you remember that every name is the opposite of what it really is. The antifascists are fascists, the antiracists are racists, the fact-checkers are propagandists, etc. Hopefully this has been fixed by your time.

First Florida, then Cuba now Mexico. What are the March Break alternatives for Canadians? With turmoil in some popular vacation spots, Canadians who hoped to get away are looking at options as far as south-east Asia, or going on a cruise, or even just staying home nationalpost.com/news/first-flo…

Minister Anand says recent violence in Mexico stems from a targeted operation against the Jalisco New Generation cartel. Canada was given no prior warning, putting thousands of its citizens at risk. Dozens of Mexican troops and cartel members have since been killed.

America, we have to recognize that the boy crisis is real. Churches have to do something different instead of giving teen boys in 2026 what they needed in 1956. Where's the urgency and innovation? The resistance to addressing this crisis programmatically continues to baffle me.
Anthony Bradley@drantbradley

Sad. I know guys who knew him. Depression & hopelessness won. He was kind, thoughtful, active at church, & it still was not enough. High school guys are drowning in mental health issues, yet churches think youth ministry can address today’s boy crisis. It categorically cannot.
