There are sweatier playlists for a reason, and causal playlists for another. If causals are mad at that, that is their own fault lmao.

This matchmaking "bug" harmed the passion I had for Marathon. Was super down to grind on non Cryo days, but I might just have to wait to play till it is back. I'm skipping on playing tomorrow. If it doesn't get better Tuesday, just like Drew said, I'll be playing less.

I love and play Marathon more than most that I know, however this week has really burnt me out. Should things not improve Tuesday I feel I'm left with the painful decision to stop putting in as much playtime. I understand there is a bug that is contributing to this, however I fear that Level-Based Matchmaking in combination with the Free Kit Queue is resulting in what feels like incredibly small player pools. Whether its Cryo or Marsh, I'm constantly matchmaking names I know. Things are no longer unpredictable, there isn't any more excitement to the unknown. Queue times are long and drawn out. Some players queuing in with pre-made teams. I'm often faced with full end-game top teams repeatedly, regardless of if I'm loading in with Green reinforced shields for an eco run (I frequently use credits/armory builds), or a Gold loadout. I'm frequently running into familiar faces that b/c we can see its them (no streamer mode/anonymity), play differently or are all inclined to be friendly out of respect - I'm sure many players (myself included) play differently based on names they might see. This is dismantling my enjoyment of high highs and low lows, and hindering the gameplay loop for me. I'm someone who doesn't burn out of what I love - and I've been having such a phenomenal time with the community. However its hard not to get exhausted and worn out with this experience, especially with some folks skewing my words back at me about it.

@ChazIsGone @Saban81 @Separer You also can’t get better by repeatedly getting stomped either. I don’t have this issue but think about the casual. You want the game to get bigger or smaller?

@DrewskysChannel Additionally, this game will not grow unfortunately without SBMM. Personally I would love the smoke against a lot of you but for most casuals it creates a non fun experience so most stop playing.

@DrewskysChannel The issue is that a lot of you guys who do this for a living or just nonstop are in the 300’s so your game knowledge and skill set supersedes the casual player. You are going to stomp them 10 out of 10 times without SBMM. You are running into the same players with the same skill.

@Ziegler_Dev Bro just do what you guys feel is best. The same people in these comments crying about it were the same people crying on streams yesterday about how hard everything was on cryo because of matchmaking and the WSTR. You can’t please these people.

UPDATE: WTF WSTRs
We're gonna take a shot at bringing the WSTR more in line. Right now it's become a dominant option and is eclipsing a lot of the other short range options that exist in the game. SOOOOOO... as of Tuesday 4/21 (likely 8AM PT) the WSTR will no longer be able to down an enemy player who has blue shields or above with two shots. The ideal is that in a majority of cases this will force a reload in scenarios where the target has a blue shield, allowing for some more counterplay in these scenarios.
What Will Change:
- Change will go live Tuesday 4/21 in the morning. Likely 8AM PT.
- WSTRs can still down a green shielded target with 2 direct shots at short rang
- WSTRs will no longer be able to down a blue and above shielded target with 2 shots at short range.
We're still keeping an eye on a variety of balance issues. Thanks for all the feedback, keep it coming and we'll keep hammering at it.
