@EnergyPeddler When Iran surrenders, 5 million barrels/day of compliant oil are going to flood an already glutted market. No one wants to be caught on the wrong side of that. Long term, oil is going sub $50 most likely.

@ExSyde @ripplebrain When will you nutjobs realise the videos being fake or authentic has nothing to do with claiming he's dead. The videos being proven fake is a matter of forensic video analysis. Satanyahu's whereabouts are a matter of speculation. Wake up!

@benjaminluk oh absolutely. i have an entire folder of characters, stories, ideas, names, etc. most of them are terrible, but sometimes i'll look through it again and see if perhaps i can mine something from them. fun and cringy to see what adolescent me thought was cool.

The secret to being a competent writer is just being a terrible writer for about 20 years.

@TomFromIT_45 @RazorwireRPG the issue is not that. this would be a quirky thing in a version of starfield that is actually competent. as it stands, though, it's just indicative of the poor worldbuilding decisions made

No single image of Starfield better illustrates how toothless, gutless, lacking in grit and texture than this one does. I made the mistake of visiting Neon late in my playthrough, excited about the idea of visiting a sleazy Cyberpunk planet. What I found was a clown show. There is something hollow and sad about the entirety of Starfield's worldbuilding and lore, that I can't even bring myself to be mad about - I'm just disappointed. This doesn't feel like a universe comprised of competing factions and people, it feels like a bunch of empty mannequins shooting at each other over nothing. Everything feels so dumbed down and family friendly. All the edges filed off to make everything palatable and bland. It's sad.

@trygraptor I mean they were correct? Messiah is a weaker book, and they said it would be harder to make it work. Denis seemingly has managed to achieve that though, as the trailer seems a lot more action packed than the book.

#Dune3 faces a major challenge, as the next book in the series isn’t considered particularly strong. This isn’t to predict the film will definitely be weaker or radically different. But Denis Villeneuve and his co-writers arguably need to show a level of adaptive flexibility and creativity beyond what they have done so far in order to elevate it to a place where it feels like a 'Return of the King' rather than a 'Godfather Part III.' hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-n…

@nxd1979 My generals thoughts are that Dune Part 1 is more interesting than Dune Part 2 overall, though Part 2 has higher highs.

what confuses me about this take is that dune part 1 tracks the story beats of the novel very closely. it captures the tone, scale, and core narrative as much as cinematic language permits. it's fine to not be a fan of it, but then how are you a fan of the rest of dune?
Bernard T. Joy@bernardtjoy

People tell me Villeneuve's Dune trilogy, once completed, will be one of the great trilogies in film history. But I just can't imagine a great trilogy spawning from such a poor first instalment.

@RazorwireRPG Contrast this with Baldur's Gate 3 that came out just a few months prior to Starfield. It is unapologetic in how stomach-churning it can get. It makes the world and its characters feel like real human beings. And it blew Bethesda out of the water.

@RazorwireRPG It's the definition of a game designed by a corporate board. Nothing can be offensive. Potentially transgressive things need to be rendered sanitized and inoffensive. The sleazy nightclub has the same vibe as a corporate office pizza party. It felt like playing Hogwarts Legacy.

@waxdeity @RazorwireRPG Omega has an incredibly intense character to it. Mass Effect 2 has some fantastic worldbuilding in it and it is brought to life by the sincerity of the vision of its environment and concept artists. This one room is more interesting than anything in Starfield.

@RazorwireRPG Even the incidental clubs that you could go to in Mass Effect were more interesting and it was just a scene prop so you could have a meeting with someone

@onarollmygod @chrisdmowrey Your initial claim was ‘will take us to war.’ That’s a prediction. Your later message treats it as present tense. I’m simply noting the contradiction.

Thank you for enlightening me, I would never have known that starting a war where 20% of the world's energy comes from would cause energy prices to go up and therefore increase russian revenue If only I had your level of foresight and wisdom, I'd surely be a better person
