Sam Altman's home has been attacked twice (once with molotov cocktail and once with someone firing at it) in last 3 days.
Cursory glance a Instagram/TikTok/Reddit was that lot of people saying things from "false flag" to outright support for the attackers.
There have been constant "AI driven layoff" news across the board for 2 years straight at this point, and despite however useful AI is, outside of probably a tiny tiny little bubble on Twitter, it generally seems to be largely hated technology by the average normie.
Given that 800M (maybe 1B+ by now) people regularly use AI - it is just unprecedented how much difference the data of usage and growth metrics can be from what people feel about a thing.
All in all, very concerning times we are heading into. Not good. In all sorts of ways.

Every time I hear these stories I think of the real impact. For every one founder with unlimited $ to chase lab resources and AI, there’s 100 doing something unhinged because ChatGPT said so. People who are in need, desperate, without access to care, who couldn’t afford GPT Research in the phone app, let alone custom AI for gene analysis.
The digital divide is widening fast, and it should concern us all.

US helium distributors switch to “call for availability” on shortages. Most US helium has now been diverted to Taiwan on contracts signed two weeks ago. Medical Imaging will now take you 6 months plus to schedule as hospitals shift to referrals outside for imaging.
