@TheStandard412 I am team whoever can play. If I had to pick who I think has a better chance of being good it's Allar by a long shot.

@hail2snerd This is a legit take based on reality. 6th rounders are 6th rounders for a reason. They have a near 0 chance of being average starters rather on stars. You take flyers on guys hoping to get a cheap 3rd string backup.

It’s time to have a serious conversation about Will Howard. Howard’s chance of being a Starting NFL QB is close to zero. The guy isn’t an NFL talent. He was a 5th year senior playing in an insanely talented team. With one of the great offensive minds of CFB as his coach. He lacks arm talent and is extremely limited as a thrower. Yinzers love the underdog, and the backup QB for some weird reason, and I know tom Brady was a 6th rd pick and Purdy was the last pick of the draft. Those are called outliers. Every 20 year type things. The best comparison I can come up with for will howard is a poor man’s Kenny Pickett. He’s that bad!

@Hennyyyyyy4 KP8 got hate because he was 30 and over drafted.....and even though I hated the pick I rooted for him to succeed until he proved to be complete ass and a waste of a 1st round pick.....then he quit. Kind of a different than a 3rd round pick.

@MPFrazer Howard barely did shit last year....and most reports of what little he did in camp said he looked like a 6th rounder. He's in no better position to start than Allar....and he needs work.

My opinion: the Steelers need to move on from Aaron Rodgers. Pencil in Will Howard as the starter. This is not because I don't want him to have to compete with Drew Allar (I do), but he's had a year of seasoning in the NFL under a future Hall of Fame QB. Let them get largely equal time in camp and preseason, but assume Howard starts the season at QB. If he is great, then you have Allar as a hopefully competent backup. If he does moderately well, then they compete again next season. If he steps in it, you can either let the season play out and pencil Allar in next season, or if absolutely necessary, you can put Allar in this year. I'm not a fan of rookies starting. I feel that throwing Kenny Pickett in as a rookie severely stunted his growth. A season or two watching from the sidelines almost always does a QB good. Thoughts?

@ThePoniExpress @LedyardNFLDraft Just a dumb take. Allar has considerable skills. His flaws are the type that can be coached and fixed. Odds are he doesn't become great....but that is literally the odds of every drafted QB.

Pittsburgh's NFL Draft expert @LedyardNFLDraft says the Steelers worst draft pick was Drew Allar. He struggled with being accurate. And basic stuff. "It was an arrogant, I can pick anyone and make him good pick by Mike McCarthy." I agree. Do you?

Listened to Allar talk with the Steelers radio guys and he mentioned that McCarthy was already asking about his footwork and what he was changing between the combine and his pro day

@Maddog_219 His numbers were good but his xERA was 3 runs higher than his actual ERA....he was bound to blow up. Pirates need a top end guy to bump the rest down an inning and Santana needs to pitch better.

@colin_beazley The only criticism is a quicker hook when you see a guy clearly doesn't have it....but yeah.....it was working perfectly until Santana imploded....that's on Santana.

Honestly shocked to see how much blame Don Kelly is getting for last night’s loss. I thought it was one of his best games of the season. The Pirates had a perfect 6.2 innings and got their closer the ball up 2 in the 9th. Kelly’s gameplan went perfectly until Santana stumbled.

@Dueycbb Kenny Pickett had one good season in his entire college and pro career....he was 2 years older than Allar is now when he did it, and he possessed not one of the elite physical traits Allar has......and he was taken in the first. Allar is a better prospect with far less invested.

Kenny Pickett beat number 2 in his first ever start, led so many game winning drives, was money in clutch time, and was a Heisman finalist Drew Allar was 1-7 against top 10 teams (only win was because of a bad CFP ranking system of Group of 5 Boise State) and choked in every single big drive The two are not the same.

@Steelersdepot Rudolph has nowhere close to the arm Allar has and while Allar is no Lamar he is far more mobile than Rudolph. Just a silly comparison.

@AriFleischer Lol....competence, class, character and grace are "divisive". I voted against the guy twice and would take him in a heart beat over the current wreck of vile creatures currently destroying our country.

This is another example showing how Barack Obama is one of the most divisive figures in American politics today. So many of our divisions were caused by the smug, demeaning and narrow-minded way he treats his opponents. Here, he pretends to not know the truth about the would-be assassin, although the facts of his left wing views were public hours before Obama’s tweet. It’s classic Obama - pretend to be conciliatory while he is the one who creates the divide. You would hope that Obama would condemn the left after the left tries to kill a President. But that’s too much to ask. Once again, Obama proves himself to be a classless divider of our country.
Barack Obama@BarackObama

Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.

Alan’s article just reinforces what I said all weekend. Reach after reach. I may not break down film but I listen to podcasts from different sources & read stuff from a bunch more. When the draft comes I have a good feel for the class. I’m not just spouting off for the fun of it
Alan Saunders@ASaunders_PGH

The #Steelers first three draft classes under Omar Khan were very well regarded, mostly because of his ability to move around the board to find value while meeting the team's needs. That all went out the window in 2026, as the team left a ton of value on the table in an underwhelming draft class. steelersnow.com/saunders-steel…
