@DetrimentoSumus Det var nog en 9X, då har en MAW med fackla liten chans till miss, bildalstrande målsökare slukar inte facklor lika lätt som retikelsökare. Men F-15E fick i alla fall ett par sekunders förvarning att han var påsatt, frågan är om han hinner göra verkansfull Uman.

Om äkta, och den ser så ut på telefon iaf så stärker det mina aningar om Sidewinderskott (liten verkansdel, akteraspekt, ingen uman* eller liknande från F-15). Det här sätter den kuwaitiska piloten i en "obehaglig" sits. *=F-15E saknar MAW, även F-15EX underlig nog

Kuwaiti F-18 🇰🇼 Engaged USAF F-15 🇺🇸 with in the visual range and shot it down. The lack of integration could have been the reason but shooting down a friendly with in visual range is just absurd. What was the pilot thinking? 🤯

@GripenNews The 39Cs then have three different IR missile protection means: the 160 Pyro flares in the BOL dispenser for pre-emptive flaring, the 4*14 MJU-7 flares in the BOP/C fuselage dispensers, and the 2*6 larger 55mm flares in the BOP/Bs.

@Borgsquirrel Bilden är i verkligheten drygt tre år gammal, före den grävdes upp igen. Ryggåsmodden finns inte på någon annan J-10C än på displaymaskinerna. här en bild på J-10A varianten som J-10CY ersatte

@stakmaskin FMV borde teckna kontrakt om KETF ammunition till Rheinmetall's Mauser 27mm till JAS39 också. Höjer Gripens C-UAS förmåga lika mycket. Mynningsenheten på pipan finns det plats för, radar gun-mode finns redan

Wow! 30x173 med möjlighet att skjuta samma typ av KETF-am som strf 9035. Radar, IR och autodetektering. Höjer C-UAS förmågan 40000 miljoner procent, för den båt den sitter på. Det är jättemycket! (Markmål får också passa sig.)

@Toranaga680640 @SeemabA04876927 Yeah, you throw yourself out by going in sync with the stick and the stall pendulum motion, by it augmenting it until you're out. Same as we did on the Draken. The same reason for the deep stall BTW.

@AirPowerNEW1 It doesn't make any sense to put a GaN TRM antenna on an APG-81 backend. This is at least 20 years old in the key choices of IF depth, AD depth, and bandwith etc. You redo the backend with a thin RF part using modern wideband/deep ADs, fast Gate arrays, and lots of memory, /

Compare this to the 15-year continued below targets for the F-35 .

@CDNPolicyHawk @ValkStrategy @ChristophLyon BTW, the US Air National Guard sent upgraded F-15Cs who's pilot said this; “ I was very impressed with their radar capabilities—they do things I wish American fighters could do!” He refers to how the BrAF used the swashplate to sneak up unseen in the Doppler notch.

I keep hearing the Gripen is an old-fashioned aircraft from 1988. Gripen E (flew 2017) likely shares ~35% commonality with the 1988 a/c. Overall layout and design philosophy remain, but the engine, avionics, radar, EW suite, cockpit & much structure are new/heavily redesigned

@noclador The F-35, with its MFA, can in NO WAY replace an F-18 Growler, which covers Ku-band through UHF with high ERP across all bands. The F-35 MFA covers less than 20% of that frequency bandwidth.

@noclador You are talking about stuff you don't understand again. The F-35 MFA has a very high ERP from 1626 TRMs and an antenna gain of 35+dB. BUT! It has a very limited bandwidth! It can't even jam the SA-10 tracking radar, which operates at a lower frequency. Do your homework!

Gripen E doesn't have a "rotating GaN radar". Gripen E GaA radar (Selex Raven ES-05) rotates. Gripen E GaN radar (Saab PS-05/A Mk 5) is fixed. GaN is better than GaA, but F-35 GaA radar (AN/APG-81) has +70% more modules & F-35 GaN radar (AN/APG-85) has +140% more modules 1/3

@noclador And no, there are more important considerations for a modern fighter radar than simply higher mean power (which GaN TRMs enable). LPI (Low Probability of Intercept) characteristics are one; there are others.

@noclador You seem to get everything wrong about Gripen, I wonder why; it's not that difficult: Gripen E/F has ONLY ONE radar Leonardo Raven ES-05, which is GaS+swashplate. Gripen C/D CAN BE upgraded to the PS-05/A mk? using a SAAB GaN antenna on a mk4 backend. But none is ordered yet.
