Manchester United plan to file a formal complaint to refereeing body the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) after being denied a penalty during Friday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth. Manchester United believed they should have been awarded a spot kick when Amad appeared to be brought down by Bournemouth defender Adrien Truffert in the second half of their Premier League fixture at the Vitality Stadium. Sources briefed on the situation indicated Manchester United officials were unhappy with how a series of similar penalty incidents were treated inconsistently during Friday’s fixture and the club intends to formally complain to PGMOL. On Amad and Evanilson penalty situations. Both might or might not have been penalties. They are subjective, in the grey zone. So on-field decision stands. VAR's role is not, and ever has been, to create consistency of decision making. Each is judged individually. #BOUMUN

It's always possible for two seemingly similar incidents to have opposite outcomes. On-field call carries weight. If a ref does not give the Amad pen that is supportable. Giving the Evanilson spot-kick is supportable too. That's the subjective laws and VAR for you.

Adam Clery perfectly counters this nonsense view that EPL football suddenly became shit. 👏🏾👏🏾

Will never understand how he’s used as an example of bad business. He’s been a brilliant signing, never let Utd down off the pitch and never behaved like he was above Utd at their lowest moment unlike some youngsters who have achieved nothing in the game
