@FargoMcSimpson @TheANRP @gwarUF @byrnetheory @LinkofSunshine “You’ll pay less” is not universal. Some (middle/upper middle class) people absolutely would pay more AND lose an insurance plan they like. These are the very obvious tradeoffs Not to mention m4a stands no chance passing in congress

I would vote for El-Sayed in a safe state and McMorrow in a swing state, simple as. He’s never won a competitive election before and she crushed hers

@byrnetheory @TheANRP @LinkofSunshine You mean ***tax the middle class**** I’m not aware of a single M4A proposal that doesn’t include a tax increase on the middle class Best of luck pitching that to voters

@NanosaurFan1999 @FloopMother @ZeBolshevikman Republicans in vulnerable seats absolutely care about their public perception. They’re trying to get reelected! Go ask Susan Collins what she’s more concerned about - thousands marching in Portland, or some activists annoying her staff

@Flunkmaster28 @FloopMother @ZeBolshevikman The modern GOP clearly do not care whether large chunks of the public hate them and their politics, in fact many seem to wear it as a badge of honour! By actually interfering with their ability to go about their jobs, you bother them in a way they might actually care about 🤷‍♂️

@NanosaurFan1999 @FloopMother @ZeBolshevikman The whole point of No Kings is to show broad public support. That’s what politicians actually respond to. Disruption just makes it easier to oppose the movement and alienates the people you need Seriously, what’s the mechanism by which your “disruption” actually leads to change?

@Flunkmaster28 @FloopMother @ZeBolshevikman An organized protest should be able to delegate roles! If you have millions of people participating *and* have offices blockaded/occupied and phone lines flooded that shows clear mass support behind the smaller (but much more disruptive) actions!

@NanosaurFan1999 @FloopMother @ZeBolshevikman Ok. The protest with millions of people participating is now cancelled so 20 people can squeeze into an office and eventually get arrested. Then we’ll all leave a bunch of voicemails. That’ll show em!

@Flunkmaster28 @FloopMother @ZeBolshevikman Protesting directly outside of Republican lawmakers’ offices and/or homes, at the very least? Doing sit-ins in their offices? Flooding their phone lines with complaints? Anything they would feel bothered by in the slightest, really!

@Flunkmaster28 @FloopMother @ZeBolshevikman *Surely* there is some tactical middle ground between dancing in frog costumes and firebombing police stations? Forms of civil disobedience or even regular political action that might inconvenience or put pressure on those in power whatsoever? 🤔

@FloopMother @ZeBolshevikman I don’t think there’s any tension between the two statements that a) politically unengaged people becoming engaged is good and should be supported and b) *this specific expression* of political energy is clearly ineffectual & inadequate for the current moment! 🤷‍♂️

@JeanlucBB0 @flackospalace @TrueSlazac It could have lowered prices even lower if production happened in the same country by reducing the useless step in transportation... And even more if we reached same development level for all countries thus most would have been produced at home...

@Alma_under @charizardavis And it completely boggles my mind why leftists use this “winning elections” line so much. You guys have basically 0 track record of winning red/purple seats, unlike moderates

@Alma_under @charizardavis Something like 6% of Republicans voted for Joe Biden in 2020. It was decisive in swing states. I’m not sure why this simple fact bothers you people so much.

centrist losers really need to get their stories straight. is the left a powerful force responsible for kamala losing in 2024, or a fringe group that should be cast aside and ignored?

@ProfDBernstein @shadihamid Nominating Shapiro would be symbolic of a party that is not listening to their voters. Both Liberals and Leftists do not want a candidate that supports the far right government of Israel. Would be like forcing MAGA to vote for Liz Cheney. Stupid politics.

If it was Shapiro vs. Tucker, I could imagine a significant number of progressives, young people, Arabs, and Muslims sitting it out or actually voting for Tucker.

@shadihamid I agree and can easily see it happening, for instance If it is Shapiro vs Tucker in 2028
