I’m pretty much past deconstructing LDS theology. The biggest frustration I have while still attending church is the hijacking of Jesus to mean LDS.
What’s unique isn’t often “good”. What is good isn’t often “unique”.
But members are convinced their version is the only way.

Only when they teach things that Christ said (you can get that at any church that believes in Christ). Anything unique will just be corrected in 50 years and dismissed as that guys opinion.

Today, Elder Kearon explicitly stated that it is entirely possible to fully sustain a leader with whom you profoundly disagree.
This is an important point, and I’m not sure I’d ever heard it stated that clearly in GC before.

@visegrad24 Real transformation isn’t optional or a punchline. DEI and BEE aren’t anti‑anyone , they’re corrective tools to fix centuries of exclusion. If Elon wants to do business in SA, respect the law and engage don’t weaponise nuance into outrage. Progress isn’t prejudice.

“Those who say BEE and affirmative action must stop are just dreaming,” he said.
South Africa has strict laws that mandate race-based hiring practices.
A new law called the Employment Equity Amendment Act sets hiring targets for 2025–2030 across 18 economic sectors.
Some workforce targets aim for 90–96% of employees to come from designated groups, which include Black people, women, and people with disabilities (minimum 3%).
That means that if a company has more than 5% white men, it could face penalties of up to 10% of its income.

@pimomormon I sympathize, and you are right that I don't know about that (other than generally knowing it is bad and discussions I've had with EXMOs). But it has little relevance to the discussion or to anything I've said.

There are many PIMOs out there like me.
We all have our reasons, and they are not few.
Some reasons for why PIMOs stay and “pretend” are bigger than others, but one thing is for certain, we wouldn’t do it if the stranglehold the church has on us would loosen.

Your profile says that you are physically in but mentally out of Mormonism, and you have identified yourself as a PIMO who physically participates but doesn't believe. If that's not pretending, what is? It is not surprising that a pretender of Mormonism would be a pretender in theology. You--clearly not a Christian--have no business telling us what God is as revealed through Christianity. Get over yourself.

@pimomormon Almost every generation of Christians starting with his own apostles thought he’d return in their lifetime. It affects people’s decisions and in my opinion delays progress because they say “Jesus is coming soon” so this or that doesn’t matter.

Jesus Christ said the signs of the second coming would come to pass before this generation dies.
Matthew 24:34 (NIV):
“Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.”
