@TannerJCollins

Following the restored gospel as laid out by Joseph Smith. The Scriptures isn't just a category on my bookshelf, it's the actual plan.

@FreeSparrowLife @LDS_Liberty @stackerco EVERYWHERE in scripture as well as taught by prophets consistently since Joseph Smith. I can quote like 17 different things here, but it's probably best for you to go find it.

@TannerJCollins @stackerco @Bar_tolmi It is because you have the ability to reason and use critical thinking and you claim to be a member, but display a lack of understanding. Infallibility is not a doctrine of our faith, quit acting like it is.

Ignorance and hubris are strong with you. I know many that probably read their scriptures more deeply than anyone I know, lived a life that would mirror any believer, and have left our faith. They poured out their souls to God pleading for an answer and it didn’t come. To say 100% is a clear indication you live in a giant bubble. There a mix of reasons people decide the church is not “true”. Sin is absolutely one of them, but the variables are vast. Do better

@stackerco Then you can answer your own question as to why someone would think this🤦‍♂️

Why would someone think 100% of people that leave the faith THEY believe in do so because of sin and disobedience?
OrthodoxMormon@TannerJCollins

@stackerco @Bar_tolmi Okay, yes this I agree with. In fact, you probably know this by now. I think it is almost 100% of the time that people leave because of disobedience. But you can prove me wrong if that's not the case.

"Apostasy is usually reached by slow degrees... It begins with some small neglect of duty. The person becomes careless in his prayers, then he becomes indifferent to the meetings of the Saints... and finally he reaches a state where he is willing to sacrifice his standing in the Church for some worldly advantage or to gratify some passion." (Gospel Doctrine, p. 373)-Joseph F. Smith "I will give you one of the Keys of the mysteries of the Kingdom. It is an eternal principle, that has existed with God from all eternity: That man who rises up to condemn others, finding fault with the Church, saying that they are out of the way, while he himself is righteous, then know assuredly, that that man is in the high road to apostasy; and if he does not repent, will apostatize, as God lives." (History of the Church, 3:385)-Joseph Smith. Be careful who you call retarded.

@TannerJCollins @stackerco @Bar_tolmi As a faithful, orthodox member of the church Saying 100% of people leave because of sin, is as retarded as saying the whole religion was started so Joseph could bang a 14 year old.

@Bar_tolmi @stackerco Just FYI responses like this clearly concede the argument. It also make Stacker look dumb for agreeing with you.

Since I already proved you wrong with a real study I will now dismantle your entire argument with the Bible. You mentioned 4 things the church focuses on that turns you away from Christ. Attending the temple, Christ directly teaches us this in Luke 24:49: "And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high." Following the prophet, Amos 3:7: "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." Ephesians 2:19–20: "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone." Attending church, Hebrews 10:24–25: "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Paying tithing, Leviticus 27:30: "And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord." Try again.

@stackerco @Bar_tolmi As you said earlier, it is very common for ex mormons to miraculously turn to sin after leaving. Making it quite clear that they had turned to those sins before they actually left. Remember this includes sins of omission.

@TannerJCollins @Bar_tolmi How else would you like the data? What is the proof of your theory that these stated reasons are wrong?
