Hollywood is finally re-learning the lesson it learned 50 years ago: playing it safe with big budget films bores audiences. Give the younger creatives with new ideas a smaller budget to make something different.
It's literally what gave us Star Wars in 1977.
DiscussingFilm@DiscussingFilm
‘BACKROOMS’ has passed $250M+ worldwide. On a budget of $10M, it is tracking to be the first A24 film to pass $300M.

@newstart_2024 👏They're 👏 a 👏 product 👏 of 👏 their 👏 environment👏
I get it. It's just annoying how it's a destructive cycle.
1) Gen Z bad for quitting
2) Gen Z treated worse as group from that
3) Gen Z lashes back w/ quiet-quitting & all those tactics
1) Gen Z bad for quitting

Tim Dillon had a brutally funny take on Gen Z’s approach to work.
He says a lot of them have figured out the whole system feels like a scam, so they’re treating it like one. Fake mental health days, quiet quitting, weaponizing HR language, doing the bare minimum while demanding maximum accommodation.
And Tim’s reaction? “I’m for it.” They’re just using the playbook society handed them.
This is what happens when trust in institutions and old-school work ethic collapses. People stop playing the game seriously and start playing the system instead.
Do you think Gen Z is smart for gaming a broken system, or is this approach ultimately making things worse?

@ralpha060461 Yea wild to get Brazil in the tourney.
Do they even have a history of football?
English

@SamStafff The Scots definitely came to be loud & proud.
Gotta love 'em.
English

@RealEmirHan He is very amazing at really having the person in mind for the character and how to amplify the actor with the character and the character amplified with the actor.
Tarantino films will always be favorites because of his ability to feel like real people, real characters.

Time to get that volcano lair I’ve always wanted.
I think it’s in the “Beyond” section of BB&B.
Elon Musk@elonmusk
If this works, I'm treating myself to a volcano lair. It's time.
English

@TEDDY127_ I feel like Bostonians + Scottish are an awesome and dangerous mix.
A lot of the same vibe from Scottish as the Boston founding fathers.
I know Boston is a bit more connected to Irish, but it's all Celtic brothers.
Gotta love 'em.

Soccer would be a whole different game with basketball-like subs. The meta would be Klopp's counter-pressing for 90 minutes every game and rich clubs would dominate even more since they would have 20+ players who can do it on a high level.
Kyle Kirms@kylekirms
I know this is a stupid American take... but every time I watch soccer, I cannot figure out the limited substitutions rule. Look how tired these players are. Just let them substitute. Think of how slow basketball would be if the same players had to play 48 minutes straight.
English

@uncledoomer SOFI is especially cool though.
All the signage is LED so it can just be rebranded easily like this.
It's real hard to have a bad seat there w/ way the screen & stadium are designed.
Also as much as Americans will fight anyone, everyone & ourselves we will show out for Team USA.
English

its funny that americans do soccer, the sport thats everything in europe and an afterthought in america, better than the europeans do
Pain.𝕏@GBarca_
This is pretty insane from the Americans
English

@JeffryJoseph14 @yoxics They executed amazingly.
I was there for it.
But how many of those guys played in Champions League level?
This team is talented AND meshing AND coaching is clicking.
A lot of Cup to play, but that can go down as one of the best the US has ever looked in international play.
English

@Frown360Turn @yoxics Thats not true, 2010 and 2014 were better teams lol.
Go look it up
English

Jynxzi believes Team USA has a real chance to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup, arguing that the team is similar to FC Barcelona with the amount of goal scoring opportunities during their opening match against Paraguay 😳
"its not even about the scoreline, its about the absolute dominance the entire game.. I watching USMNT or Barca..
English

@stoolpresidente Or it's the fact that the World Cup is an event somewhere 100-1000x bigger with BILLIONS of viewers.
Relativity is relatively important.
Also a lot of ppl also likely lose more interest when the team is up 3-1 in a series even with a couple of the craziest Finals games.
English

@thomasrp93 Legitimately both.
Just look at the slate of now & future Hall of Famers shut out w/ Lane.
Jason is like the start of the "undersized" center for zone blocking schemes valuing movement.
I's say Lane because how many islands he's been on & that crazy no sack allowed run he has.
English

@samlambert Hate it when there’s a creep on the dance floor.
What am I even doing here?
English

@CraigRo777 @NateSilver538 It's a spacing game.
Sometimes they are just squeezing you well on defense & you can't attack a side, you can't get past the middle so you sort've reset, pass it on back & try to attack again.
It's really hard to get any decent shots off once everyone is all down there compacted
English

@NateSilver538 Can anyone explain why an offense is down near the opponents goal, and they pass the ball back, and pass it back, and pass it back, and pass it back and finally pass it back to their OWN goalie. What the hell kind of strategy is that?
English

@gothamhiphop Nah, that was some of the best attacking & team play I have seen from the US team in YEARS.
Usually it felt like we defended, barely held sloppy as hell, and then would have some fast breaks that were also sloppy.
US was being a menace near the box & passing like a real team.
