@dasscherick They’re there alright! Spiritually alive and present with Christ and awaiting the redemption of their bodies and the coming of the New Heavens and New Earth.🌎 This hope is foundational.

@obdDamian Being Protestant doesn’t mean that you think the church was wrong FOR 1500 YEARS, rather, the church had backslidden. We CERTAINLY don’t think the Apostles were wrong, and like every tradition we like to use the fathers but not treat them as infallible individuals.

@SecretFire79 While there are some valid points here, this is such an oversimplified concept of sex. Sex is not merely for making babies. It is literally the most bonding thing that can take place between two humans that we know of. It’s the glue that makes you “one flesh” with your spouse.

Sex was never meant to be your recreational pastime… Somewhere along the line, we turned the most biologically significant act in human existence into a casual pastime. Sex isn’t a personality trait. It isn’t a sport. It isn’t a form of self-expression. It’s literally how we make babies. That’s it. That’s the function. You can dress it up with fancy language about “liberation” and “self-discovery,” but biology does not care about your vibes. Every part of your body involved in sex has one primary evolutionary purpose: reproduction. Not validation. Not entertainment. Not content creation. We’re the only generation in history shocked that actions have consequences. For thousands of years, everyone understood the deal: sex = babies Now we act betrayed when biology does what biology is designed to do. If you remove reproduction from sex, what you’re left with is just chasing dopamine with extra steps. And the more we normalize treating it casually, the more we seem confused about why relationships, commitment, and family structures feel unstable. Call me old-fashioned. Call me judgmental. But maybe the reason everything feels chaotic is because we turned the most life creating act into a recreational activity and expected nothing to change. Biology hasn’t changed. We have.

@Chad4328 This assumes that Protestants aren’t catholic. The Reformation was a Reformation of the Catholic Church, not a new church.

@MrCasey62 Ask if the Roman Catholic Church is the one true church and you’ll get the same mixed responses. So using your same logic, the Papacy, the Magisterium and Scripture all together fail to persuade every person to have the same opinion.

Sola Scriptura fails spectacularly, because Scripture being infallible doesn’t prevent fallible interpreters from cherry-picking it however they choose and getting it completely wrong.

@pkhudetz @StevieDougie @MrCasey62 Sola Scriptura works magnificently. It's our only infallible source. Any tradition that conflicts with Scripture must bow to it, and no tradition should add to it.

@CodyTheSuperman @sola_chad Did you actually read the post? It’s not speaking of replacement. He explicitly says the church “the new Israel” is made up of “Jews and Gentiles.” This is not replacement. It is fulfillment. It’s inclusion, and unity language, not division or exclusion.

No. Scripture does not teach that God replaced Israel with the Church. Paul says Gentiles are grafted into Israel’s covenant tree, not that a new tree replaced the old one, and he warns believers not to boast against the natural branches because “God has not cast away His people” (Romans 11). He also says that those who belong to Christ become Abraham’s seed and heirs of the promise (Galatians 3:29), which is inclusion, not substitution. The biblical picture is continuity, not replacement: one covenant people, expanded to include both Jew and Gentile under the promises first given to Abraham.

@riecker It depends on what you mean by exclude. If you mean that they simply contained them, you’re likely correct, although to say there were zero is likely not probable. But if you are saying that all Bibles contained them as Canon, that’s verifiably false. They were always secondary.

There are ZERO Bibles from before the Reformation that contain the 66-book Protestant Canon (39 Old Testament + 27 New Testament books) while excluding the Deuterocanonical books (Apocrypha). 🧵

Have Protestants actually read the Bible??? 21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the deeds of power done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I tell you, on the day of judgment it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon than for you - literally Jesus
MrCasey@MrCasey62

Job used ashes. Mordecai used ashes. Daniel used ashes. The King of Nineveh used ashes. The Israelites used ashes. He’s not objecting to ashes (a humble recognition of being “dust” before God) because they’re unbiblical—or even “pagan”. He’s objecting because they’re Catholic.
