The residential neighborhoods of Washington, DC are as pretty as anywhere, but the wide streets in the downtown and federal core are horrible, especially in oppressive heat. Should add some pedestrian medians with trees and benches.

The reason the Wharf in DC seems to have way more soul than NoMa or Navy Yard despite having the exact same architectural style is just that it’s entirely pedestrianized. Without cars, it brims with life like a European street
