@Tristafeyr @CMSX101 @MizutamariVT but even then, to make it run offline, it would require the software be refactored, a very tedious and costly process. and i doubt the utility of the minority of players sticking around then would be as high as during the live-service. unintended consequences and all

@Tristafeyr @CMSX101 @MizutamariVT if Fortnite close down, it will be after a long, exhausting drawn-out period of bleeding players for months and years, to the point it is no longer profitable to run the live-service. public in general would already be fed-up, but i get that some peeps would like it still

One of the interesting arguments the JP side has had against Stop Killing Games is that to make an offline version or would cost 50% to 100% more of the games original budget to do it. I'm not sure if this is just a blatant lie, genuine incompetence or total ignorance. We have guys with no access to the source code able to reverse engineer servers with, relatively speaking, minimal effort. If Joe Everyman can do it for 0 dollars in his basement without the nessecary information, how come companies that actually have that information apparently can't do?

@Tristafeyr @CMSX101 @MizutamariVT not really, i have yet to encounter a live-service game where serve got closed before people in general are bored with it already. gaming is experience, it is fleeting, no need to make a game living on as zombie. that would be my general take.

@GunplaLibrarian @CMSX101 @MizutamariVT And you probably want to continue to play those games right? That's all we want too. This whole thing came about from Nier Reincarnation which closed down and can't be played anymore. We just want to be able to play that game.

@SunnyComb000 @CMSX101 @MizutamariVT idk dude, offline Dota 2 would be miserable. flaming, being toxic, blaming your teammates, owning noob so on and so forth etc is what make games like MOBA fun after all 😂

@Tristafeyr @CMSX101 @MizutamariVT as someone playing Space Marine 2, Dota 2, Hell Divers 2 (before that Team Fortress, CS, …), maybe let’s stop labeling all live-service games as bad multiplayer game exist cause people need to socialize, and socializing is a core game-play mechanics

@GunplaLibrarian @CMSX101 @MizutamariVT Ok.🤷 I wish for live service games to die off anyway, anything that makes devs have less incentive to create live service games is a good thing in my book.

@KiwiMeowahura @Tristafeyr @CMSX101 @MizutamariVT higher price because consumer would be expected to get more value from a game (the offline post live service now expected to be priced in), than just the value from the live service portion. higher value => higher price (regardless of the cost of production)

@GunplaLibrarian @Tristafeyr @CMSX101 @MizutamariVT Higher price for what exactly, always online games, Maybe, but even then, it would more likely become higher because of companies' greed. Single Player games would have literally no change in its pricing if devs actually do their jobs for once.

@Tristafeyr @CMSX101 @MizutamariVT then you can't retroactively apply to old game, you can only do that to new game developed from that point on and also be prepared to bear higher price for game 😅

@GunplaLibrarian @inkblotPrincess You know the first licensed broadcast of the pokemon anime in vietnam were the black and white series, and not the original. Do you know why? It's because pirated dvds of the first 4 regions were so immensely popular it let to actual licensing to meet the demand

@CMSX101 @MizutamariVT because shit like that need to be factor in from the very start, and not willy nilly add-in after? in west, people like story “i got fired but the firm then have to re-hire me as consultant at x3 the old rate”. is it hard to understand things need to be designed at beginning?

@MizutamariVT The crazy thing is some game companies like Capcom have already started doing things like this. The mobile game Megaman X Dive was given an offline version that you can buy on steam. I don't really get why they think its some impossible task when its already being done.

@SensOfKnowledge @sinpen NYC public subway is funded by taxes and fare that each rider paid. if you know 50% of rider skip-paying, therefore the public subway have to raise fee by 200% for the riders who pay, to stay afloat and continue to provide services, is it fair?

That sounds like a miserable way to go through life, constantly worrying if other people paid more or less than you do. Would a Japanese customer feel bad if a store owner gave their friend free food 'on the house' or is just anime, manga, and video games that get this special rule?

初心カイ@syosin_kai

@hk1p8 Absolutely wrong. Many Westerners WILL buy Japanese creations IF there is a legal way to do so. However in cases like this where the game is completely unavailable, then they go the pirate route, because there's literally no other way to get it.

My opinion is similar Japanese people’s opinions I see based on this topic. I don’t agree with piracy and sure it can seem justified if someone is genuinely poor and can’t afford media but I find it unacceptable and disrespectful to someone’s art or creation. This is why art in the west is in the state that it’s in, people don’t respect art nor the artist. People don’t want to buy music, games, or movies ect but then wonder why no one is investing their time in creating “good art”. It’s simply because fans see art as easily disposable once it’s done being consumed instead of acknowledging the time and effort to create something. I’m also someone that believes that if a piece of media doesn’t exist for purchase anymore then you just have to deal with it.

@MayB_Art Also kinda ironic how the canon Gunpla with the RG system doesn't have an RG version (I know the acronyms are different). Would've expected it to be a P-Bandai one at least if they didn't want to make it retail or an add on set to the RG, but it's just missing.

Some parts, like the shoulder thrusters and grey elbows, don't light up when using the RG system. In some scenes, the ankle inner frame and where the shoulders meet the chest don't glow either. So you'd need to mix HGs to get a lore-accurate RG system build strike. ☝️🤓
