Trevor, the real issue is how the policy undermines our sector's competitiveness. You've never understood this. Even if food prices don’t fall when the carbon tax is eliminated, that doesn’t erase the strain it’s put on production and transportation costs across the supply chain. This isn’t just about retail prices—it’s about our ability to compete globally.
Trevor Tombe@trevortombe

If the federal CTax is eliminated next year (as appears likely) and food prices *don’t* fall, what will those regularly claiming that the effect is massive say?

“Didn’t always see eye to eye” lol you filed not one but two code of conduct complaints against her because you’re a fragile crypto bro who uses respectability politics to mask your disdain for anyone who mildly disagrees with your corporatist anti-poor agenda
Mayor Ken Sim@KenSimCity

Today, we said goodbye to Councillor @christineeboyle, the new Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation. Over the last six years, Christine has been a fierce voice on Council— with a passion for sustainability, affordable housing, and reconciliation. While we didn’t always see eye to eye, her voice was invaluable, and Vancouverites will miss her in the Chambers.   Thank you for your service and dedication. I know you’ll do great in your new role, and I’m excited about all the amazing things we’ll continue to achieve together. Best of luck in this next chapter.

I wonder if a 10 year old has a clear grasp on the alternatives to gas in buildings and the associated costs. Or are they just parroting what they’re being told? And if they’re just parroting, is that really an education?
Pete Fry@PtFry

For posterity: some of the children’s artwork that Cllr Montague found “intimidating” at today’s presentation on his amendment to re-introduce gas to future construction. Imagine how intimidated those kids felt coming to City Hall to present concerns about their climate future.

Parliament passed the Euthanasia bill. Were it not for 1911, the Lords could kill it; were it not for 1688, the King could veto it - but democracy is triumphant and that bloody deity requires sacrifice. Would that those who pushed this horror through were the first offered to it.
