JUST IN: Houston police officer Ashley Gonzalez fired after racist rant video surfaces
Houston Police Department has officially terminated Officer Ashley Gonzalez following an internal investigation into a video that allegedly shows her repeatedly using the N-word.
The footage shows Gonzalez using the racial slur while describing Black people and recounting using it toward a person in custody during an arrest.
HPD had previously placed her on administrative leave. The department stated the conduct is unacceptable and does not align with its values.
Today, community leaders gathered outside the headquarters calling for her termination and a review of her previous arrest cases.
