@Thuso1Africa Hey, it's not our fault that no matter how many billions Europeans have spent or wars they and the US has fought to stop slavery, Africans just wont stop selling each other.

The universe is a time machine and the math on the distance ladder will break your brain. 2,000 light-years gets you Rome. Go to 500 light-years and you're watching the Black Plague consume Europe in real time. At 80 light-years, you catch World War II. At 4.24 light-years, the nearest star system, Alpha Centauri, the light arriving right now left Earth in 2022. Someone there is watching us argue about whether GPT-4 is sentient. Now scale that in the other direction. The Andromeda Galaxy is 2.5 million light-years away. An observer there right now sees Earth before modern humans existed. They're watching early hominids figure out stone tools. They have no idea what's coming. The closest alien civilization is statistically estimated at 33,000 light-years away. They would be watching humans invent agriculture for the first time. Writing hasn't been invented yet. Cities don't exist. From their perspective, we are a species that just figured out how to plant wheat. Here's what makes the physics cruel. To actually see a human-sized object on Earth from just 20 light-years away, you'd need a telescope array roughly 100 million kilometers across. That's more than half the diameter of Earth's orbit around the Sun. To see Rome from 2,000 light-years? The optics required would be larger than our solar system. The light is real. The photons that bounced off Roman soldiers are still traveling outward at 300,000 km/s right now, carrying that information forever. The universe has a perfect recording of every moment in Earth's history, expanding in all directions at the speed of light. The problem was never distance. The problem is that no civilization, no matter how advanced, can build a lens big enough to read it.
Curiosity@CuriosityonX

Did you know🚨: A civilization 2,000 light-years away looking at Earth today would see the Roman Empire.

A riddle from 1688 goes: "If a man born blind can feel the differences between shapes such as spheres and cubes,if given the ability, could he distinguish those objects by sight alone?" In 2003, the riddle was solved when five people had their sight restored through surgery. They could not.

I know this is Star Trek, but it's a great case study in leadership. Every boss eventually needs to have this talk with a senior employee at some point in their career. Sometimes you have to remind people who is in charge.

@Brizksie This was a trope I have found annoying for some time... Black heroes with electrical or tech related powers. Most are fine, how cringe depends on the writing. That said... How on Earth do they justify Miles' new powers? Electricity... Electrical swords? You know... like a spider!

Back in 2014 I was on a walking tour of Dresden and our guide kept referring to the firebombing destroying this or that building until an American girl in her 20s raised her hand to ask "sorry, who firebombed Dresden?" and the group fell so silent you could hear a pin drop

@fandompulse That take is disproven through out the entire MCU Capt. America Cannon. " I don't want to kill anyone. I don't like bullies." "There has never been another Steve Rodgers, has there?" -Zemo Falcon's refusal to even take the serum. The serum itself increasing your very nature.

@TatsunokoCroi @ShitpostRock2 I lived on Okinawa for a year. This is true. The Japanese soldiers convinced the people we were so evil and the terrible things we would do to them when we started winning they threw themselves and their children over cliffs as we begged them over loud speaker to stop.

@ShitpostRock2 I heard a story about a man in 1945 okinawa being treated by US soldiers and given hot coffee for a self inflicted wound. He'd been told the US soldiers would rape and torture his family, so to save them the pain and suffering he'd killed them himself and tried to off himself.
