@ShitpostRock2 No it wasn't, Japan was ready to surrender on the condition that the Emperor could stay in power. The US demanded total surrender and then nuked Japan. Japan surrendered and they kept the Emperor anyway. Total waste of time outside of winning the dick measuring competition.
