Arizona has lost one of its greats. Alfredo Gutierrez devoted his life to forging a stronger community—a dedicated public servant, a steadfast advocate for the Latino community, and a mentor to many. His profound legacy, in politics and civil rights, will shape generations to come. My deepest condolences to his wife Sharon and loved ones.

I have cried every day since my Popa passed…it comes in waves. While driving to the Capitol this week, I received a call from a dear friend, Mr. Jerry Lewkowitz. He called to notify me that I was recently selected to receive an award in his father’s name. It was an emotional conversation. We both cried. He cried because he was honored to be able to honor his father’s legacy by having me be the recipient, and I cried because I knew my father would be so proud. Regardless of how old we are, our love for our parents never changes. His father passed away in 1951, and mine passed away this year, yet the grief is the same. I feel incredibly proud to be this year's recipient of the Herman Lewkowitz ADL Rising Leader Award 💙🥲
