@jennabeee22 But it is irrelevant when the goalie was contacted before the rebound happened. Just because a save was made does not mean he was impaired while doing so

@KMFilipowski Which didn’t impair his ability to make the save, because he did. Rule 69.7 deals with rebounds, and in it states that when the goalie and attacking player are both trying to play the puck and contact occurs, the goal is allowed. Which is the relevant point here.

@revingev Elite phase and skyrocketing costs can begin at age 13. Ages 13-16 (4 years) could easily be in the $150k-$300k range. Assume they are in junior by 17 if they are a potential NHL prospect. Possible it could be lower than $150k for those that get deals to play in certain places.

Been working on some numbers of the cost of developing players for the #NHL. Based on 2026 economic data and current #hockey development trends, here is the approximate breakdown of the "Million Dollar Path." The Minor Hockey Years (Ages 5–14) (9 Years): $110,000 – $280,000 The Elite Prospect Phase (Ages 15–17) (3 Years): $120,000 – $210,000 The Junior Hockey Phase (Ages 16–18) 3 Years): $15,000 – $25,000 While the $400,000 to $600,000 range is the current "average" for a drafted player, some insiders suggest that if you factor in the "opportunity cost" (parents taking time off work, wear and tear on vehicles, lost investment gains on that money), the true cost is closer to $1 Million. This is exactly why we are seeing more and more "NHL Legacies" (the sons of former pros) in the league—the financial barrier to entry has become so high that only the top 1% of earners can truly afford to give their child every tool needed to be a Top-30 prospect.

@OilersJack New coaches work. Just look at what happened after the Oilers hired Knoblauch

Friendly reminder that 2.3 years is league average for coaching tenure in the NHL. Voices go stale and different rosters need different coaching fits to succeed. It’s very common to change coaches when they lose the room and unhealthy to keep someone around too long who has.

McDavid left practice part way through and is in with trainers. Didn’t look like he was injured but we’ll follow up with Knoblauch after skate.

This goal was called BACK due to goalie interference on Lee to keep it 1-0 Isles in a HUGE Eastern Conference playoff race game ❌ Thoughts? 👀

@OilersNation You cant hit a player from behind like that, but who the fuck turns towards the boards like that to avoid a hit when an opponent is coming to hit you?

The Penguins just printed these out for the media in regards to goalie interfere rulings. Yes, by the book, absolutely was goalie interference.

The Penguins passed these out in the press box during the first intermission to explain why they challenged for goalie interference on Winnipeg’s first-period goal. Morgan Barron collided with Erik Karlsson, who then fell into Silovs and knocked him over. Hence the highlight.
