A puck goes off Nurse's knee, then off Murphy's hip and flutters very slowly over Jarry's shoulder from 25' out. Jarry did not see the original shot, did not see either of the deflections and did not see the puck sail slowly over his shoulder. You've got to track that puck kid !

NOTABLE QUOTABLES - Mammoth becoming NHL destination thanks to trust in players, team With core locked up, Utah eyes spot in playoffs, successful future - “I was playing in the minors the year before,” Guenther said. “You don’t even really know if you’re going to be a full-time NHL player. That kind of commitment from them and trust from them was a good feeling to have, especially at such a young age.” “The players are vested in the vision, the vision of trying to become a championship organization, and they know that you have to play together long term to do that,” Utah general manager Bill Armstrong said. “When Guenther stepped up and he was the first one to say, ‘This is where I want to be,’ that was huge. It kind of parlayed into Cooley saying, ‘I want to be here,’ and then ‘Bainer’ saying ‘I want to be here too.’ We traded for JJ and ‘Sergy’, and ‘Vejy’ saying ‘I want to be a part of this too.’ Well, here we go.” “The fact the guys stay here means they love each other, they believe in each other, they want to be together and they believe they can achieve great things together,” Utah coach Andre Tourigny said. “To follow that, they believe the organization will give them the means to succeed together. They believe everything will be put together to achieve their goals. “They have huge belief in (owners) Ryan and Ashley (Smith) with the way they’ve done things since we arrived in Utah. All the players that we have talk about the community here, the atmosphere at Delta Center, how the fans react to them. I think everything brings the vibe in the right direction.” “I think we can be a dangerous team in the playoffs,” Schmaltz said. “We play a pretty hard game. We play fast. We’re tough to play against. I think we’ll take advantage of it.” “I think we’re in a window where we can be a successful team here for the foreseeable future,” Schmaltz said. “That’s what my thought was and it’s nice to see other guys buying in long term. It was kind of a no-brainer.” “That core group of guys is what is going to drive this team for years, the Cooleys, the Guenthers, (Clayton) Keller, JJ, Sergy,” Weegar said. “They have everything in place with their core group of guys and they’re good. They’re not still just getting their feet wet. They’re established now. That was huge for me. I didn’t want to go into a place that didn’t have a core group of guys ready to win and they have that right now.” “It’s just a totally different level here,” Schmaltz said. “Arizona was great. Living there was awesome. But the circumstances weren’t ideal and this was a complete 180. Now I feel we have one of the best owners in the League that is willing to do whatever it takes. Whatever he says he follows through and gets it done quick.” “There’s a good chunk of good players coming and what we’ve tried to do is be able to develop them,” Armstrong said. “When you have your guys in place it allows you to bring guys in slowly. Instead of putting all of our rookies in and getting our butts whooped, we’re going to gradually put one in here, put one in there.” “For me, now it’s obvious that’s why ‘Schmaltzy’ wanted to stick around for eight more years,” Weegar said. “This team is so good and the ceiling is so high.” -

Thoughts on Anton Frondell’s debut? Outside of not going bar down on a one timer for his first goal, I thought he fared very well.

@revingev @hockey_two Not a bad comparison. Mario was older in '87 and I dont think McDavid is done posting some big numbers but its still a solid comparison. :)

Curious for you older #Hockey fans. Many believe the 1987 Canada Cup represented the coming of age of Mario #Lemieux as the torch was being passed from #Gretzky. This past Olympics felt like the same was happening between -#McDavid and #Celebrini . The younger learning from the current reigning best player. #NHL

The Blackhawks have a No. 1 pick (Connor Bedard), a No. 2 pick (Artyom Levshunov) and a No. 3 pick (Anton Frondell) in the lineup tonight. All their own picks, too. Can't imagine that's happened too often in the NHL.

Yeah your assumption of flaw comes from what looks like is a flaw in your reading. No matter the income of a society has nothing to do with the facts of how costly it is to develop your child in hockey. Your other flaw was around NHL former players and your flaw response also had nothing to do with my factual numbers. Either your not taking time to read correctly and analyze properly and over confident in your own thinking or your just looking to find arguments. I think I will end up with this. Go back, read through the cost. That was the post, all the extra was only some facts based on questions you had which I actually took time to give you. Want to develop a kid in hockey that makes it to NHL. 400k min with top end up to a 1M. Them is the facts my friend. That’s costly and one of the most expensive sports to put your kids in. Thanks for the conversation

@revingev As a published researcher, I'm able to detect when someone is conjecturing wildly w/o having done the required empirical studies. That's what you're doing. I'm not saying your conclusions are wrong; only that they are unsupported by proper evidence. I, too, may conjecture wildly.

Been working on some numbers of the cost of developing players for the #NHL. Based on 2026 economic data and current #hockey development trends, here is the approximate breakdown of the "Million Dollar Path." The Minor Hockey Years (Ages 5–14) (9 Years): $110,000 – $280,000 The Elite Prospect Phase (Ages 15–17) (3 Years): $120,000 – $210,000 The Junior Hockey Phase (Ages 16–18) 3 Years): $15,000 – $25,000 While the $400,000 to $600,000 range is the current "average" for a drafted player, some insiders suggest that if you factor in the "opportunity cost" (parents taking time off work, wear and tear on vehicles, lost investment gains on that money), the true cost is closer to $1 Million. This is exactly why we are seeing more and more "NHL Legacies" (the sons of former pros) in the league—the financial barrier to entry has become so high that only the top 1% of earners can truly afford to give their child every tool needed to be a Top-30 prospect.

Hey feel feee to spend the hours and time and educate all of us. You already overstated the flaw as how may are NHL players which was no flaw just observation and I have numbers. Now you’re seeing another flaw but no facts just questioning. I’m all game if you can show me different numbers but before you do…are you a parent who has put their kid(s) through hockey? The next is, are you involved in the hockey world as a coach or working with leagues or academies? Or are you simply just trying to make sense of the dollars. Seems you got a bone to chew on and no actual hard facts. 😉. Enlighten everyone , I won’t be offended. The numbers are the numbers. Even if families don’t make as much and have disposable income , they financing their kids through hockey. (Or did you read past that?) haha! Bottom line, the family has to pay off 400-600k by time their kid actually gets drafted or goes NCAA route etc…

@revingev The median household income in Canada / Ontario is pretty low. We are nearly a third world country now. Below Alabama. So "above average" isn't a very high bar. And the fact that so many NHLers come households with lower than median incomes suggests a flaw in your analysis.

Aram Minnetian, 183CM/95KG, signed by #TexasHockey 2024. My Thoughts: •Wicked wrister in transition. Great at getting defense's to collapse, rare as dman. •He doesn't hit a lot, but when it's big. •Great 2-way dman, especially on forecheck/boards •Good DZ puck-moving player.

I’m about to get married, and my fiancé knows I have an inheritance that was left to me by my grandparents. It’s in my name only, and I’ve been saving it for years. Now he’s saying that before we get married, I should put the entire inheritance into a joint account so we can “start fresh together,” or he doesn’t think we should go through with the wedding. I’m 36 already and this is something my family worked hard to leave me. I’m torn between wanting to build a life together and feeling like I’m being pressured to give up something important to me. What do you think I should do? By isitmeaitah

@revingev I would go so far as to suggest you could quadruple the cost of Elite & Junior. Schools like Shattuck-St. Mary's are approx $65k a year. Add in what some parents are prepared to spend on related gym training, sports massage, nutrition etc.

And if you read carefully I did say that’s why we are seeing more NHL legacies, because they can afford the development. Not that they represent the highest amount. Also while it can end up costing a half million to get there, that was paid out over 10-12 yrs. Many families also Remortgage and take out lines of credit to put kids through hockey 🏒

@revingev Have you done a study of how many NHL players come from millionaire families? Because if most do not, then it might suggest there is a flaw in your calculations. (I suspect only a small percentage of them do.)

The Chicago Blackhawks are going to be must watch TV the rest of the season. The #Blackhawks now have 7, I repeat, 7 legitimate NHL potential weapons at 22 or younger on their roster. Frondell (18), Bedard (20), Lardis (20), Moore (21), Rinzel (21), Nazar (22), Greene (22) Can’t wait to see the pace this team plays with, with & without the puck. Times are a changing in the Windy City.

@revingev Elite phase and skyrocketing costs can begin at age 13. Ages 13-16 (4 years) could easily be in the $150k-$300k range. Assume they are in junior by 17 if they are a potential NHL prospect. Possible it could be lower than $150k for those that get deals to play in certain places.

@revingev i have the cheapest seats in the building first round of playoffs is over 140 a seat and the final round is about 430. There is no way a market the size of edmonton in the 4th major league in NA is the 3rd most profitable in the world.

Since Rogers Place opened for the 2016-17 season, the #Oilers have raised ticket prices in 8 out of the last 9 years. The only year they officially held the line was the 2019-20 season 2023-2025): Most sections saw hikes of 10–12% per year during this stretch as the team's "championship window" fully opened. Reports from the recent renewal cycle show a slightly more modest increase of 0–5% for most full season seats, though some premium sections jumped higher While regular season seats go up steadily, the playoff "strips" are where the real sticker shock happens. First-round seats that cost around $115–$130 can jump to over $400 by the time the Stanley Cup Finals roll around The other thing to note is: Edmonton has one of the highest "resale" markups in the league. Because the demand in Northern Alberta is so high and the season seat waitlist is so long, the secondary market often sits 40–60% higher than the face value of the ticket. NOTE: this is NOT an #Oilers thing. #Vegas is close to #Edmonton on ticket prices and raising yearly since entering the league. #Rangers in spite of poor seasons have the highest increase and bring in the most ticket revenue. Teams with new arena’s the same.

@revingev @Wizalters I am a very senior ticket holder, my relocation is priority, drink rail has its own wait list that is not based on seniority, and yes the demand is insanely high, however i think this year the demand will start falling off, we are tired of this.

I know he’s only 18, will have jet lag, figuring out chemistry with his linemates… But this is the first time in the NHL we’ll be able to see Bedard play on a line with someone anywhere close in offensive ability, all while Frondell perfectly masks lots of 98’s own weaknesses.
