There is a Welsh dish you have almost certainly never heard of, and it fed a hill nation for six hundred years. It is called cawl. Pronounced, approximately, "cowl." Chunks of mutton, leek, swede, parsnip, potato, and carrot simmered for hours in a single pot until the meat falls off the bone and the broth turns the colour of amber. That is the whole dish. That is also one of the most nutritionally complete meals in the British peasant tradition. It is eaten as two courses from one pot. The broth first, ladled into a bowl and drunk almost like a tea, tasting of the marrow and the leeks and the slow kindness of long cooking. The meat and vegetables second, fished out with a slotted spoon, piled onto a plate, and eaten with a hunk of bread and a wedge of Caerphilly cheese on the side. A Welsh hill farmer in 1880 ate cawl three or four times a week. The mutton came from the family's own sheep, culled at five or six years old, the fat yellow with Welsh grass. The leeks and the root vegetables came from the garden behind the farmhouse. The bread was baked that morning in the kitchen range. The cheese was made from the household cow two valleys over. One bowl delivered, in a single sitting, substantial complete protein, collagen dissolved from the bones, fat-soluble vitamins rendered out of the marrow, and the minerals leached from the meat and vegetables over four hours of slow heat. All from a single cut of mutton shank that fed the family for three days. A 2024 survey of Welsh adults found that approximately 40% had never eaten cawl. A further 30% had eaten it only at a tourist restaurant, served as a heritage novelty in a ceramic bowl with a sprig of thyme on top. Every peasant cuisine on earth independently arrived at this formula. Scotch broth in the Highlands. Mutton broth in the Borders. Pot-au-feu across the Channel. Bollito misto in Piedmont. Cocido in Castile. The same idea, solved by every hungry population in Europe, independently: take the toughest cut of the cheapest animal, simmer it for half a day with whatever roots are in the cellar, serve it twice from the same pot, feed everyone. This is traditional wisdom. It is what your great-grandmothers knew without having to be taught. The formula is not a recipe so much as a principle: tough cut, long time, root vegetables, two courses from one pot. It works in every kitchen on earth because it was developed by every kitchen on earth, in parallel, by people who had to feed families on what the land gave them. The knowledge is not difficult. The ingredients are still sitting on the butcher's slab and the greengrocer's shelf. The pot is, probably, already in the cupboard. The only part that has gone missing is the grandmother who used to tell you how to start it.

@emopunkgrrrl @bbfeebeee No it isn’t, we are the country where women stood up to be counted and will do it again every time. From the suffragettes to the pink ladies. We understand the fight however it presents and any threat to us, other women and our kids.

@bbfeebeee it’s entitlement. it’s that link between middle class and upper class, and the determination to maintain the status quo and therefore their connection to patriarchal power/the aristocracy. they see themselves as above others (culturally, intellectually), yet also as heroes.

🚨 HUGE NEWS! Are we about to ban terrorists from standing for public office? A few weeks ago, the government responded to our petition in writing. Long story, short - they fobbed us off. NOW the petitions committee which is made up of current serving MP’s have said that the government response wasn’t good enough. The government is now being forced to give a proper response. This WILL end up going through parliament. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in this. More signatures mean more leverage. Please keep signing.

Does anyone else find it odd that $200 billion is spent on cancer research every single year and the only thing to show for it is a 75% increase in cancer deaths since the 1990s?

@HJB_News__ @kwilliam111 @HumzaYousaf Instead of focusing on the woman raped by a racist ignorant scumbag, he plays the usual Muslims are the real victims card. He ALWAYS seems to do this. Never a word about the lasses abused by the rape gangs or the ideology which looks on them as other & therefore fair game 🤷‍♀️

@HumzaYousaf Why is Humza Yousaf getting so angry. I’ve never seen him get so upset about the Pakistani Muslim rape of British girls. They love playing the victim card at every opportunity.

“Bloody Muslim bitch.” That is what John Ashby shouted at his victim as he raped her And while doing it screamed anti-Muslim abuse This did not happen in a vacuum This is what happens when hate is mainstreamed When cowards in suits pretend their words have no consequences

I had a house here for 28 years. I was the Secretary on our local Resident’s Association. For years we tried to block the Government and developers from ruining our Countryside. We lost. This will be the last memory we have before the land is covered in new housing. Our Countryside, nature and natural lungs lost to greedy profiteers with no vision. Kent, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

As I have said before, what about the human rights of the British people Are they not part of the equation ?
British Intel@TheBritishIntel

An Islamist terrorist who plotted to bomb the London Stock Exchange has been allowed to stay in Britain. His asylum claim was rejected years ago, yet a judge ruled that deporting him would breach his human rights. He remains free on our streets. Meanwhile, Shabana Mahmood has banned @ValentinaForUSA from entering the UK. This move only proves how much influence the Muslim Brotherhood now holds over the government. They clearly don’t realise they cannot stop @TRobinsonNewEra from live-streaming her speech on the main stage - just like Tommy did with Elon Musk. In banning her, they have exposed themselves yet again today.

This is absolutely sickening and monstrous. 😤 John Ashby, 32, has admitted the racially aggravated rape of a Sikh woman in Walsall after stalking her from a bus, breaking into her home, and attacking her because he mistakenly thought she was Muslim. He called her a “fking Muslim bitch”, told her she was “dirty”, declared himself her “British master”, strangled her, and subjected her to a prolonged, degrading assault. He is a dangerous predator who committed a vile, evil crime against an innocent woman. Full stop. No excuses. He deserves the longest possible sentence, life hopefully. But let’s be clear: acting like them (stooping to rape, violence, or collective punishment) doesn’t make anything better. It doesn’t protect anyone. It doesn’t “fight back.” It just creates more victims, more chaos, and hands ammunition to those who want to paint all pushback as extremism. Prayers for the victim and her recovery. 🙏🏻 This kind of evil has no place in a civilised society.

We need to get rid of a whole host of middle managers and put professionals back in charge of wards and departments. Some of you may be too young to remember matrons but let me assure you the NHS ran much more efficiently.

We should have a new rule. Once it's established, like it has been today, that the prime minister has knowingly lied to the house, multiple times, and put the UKs national security at risk, it should be a criminal offence and immediately trigger a their removal from office. There is no honour in politics anymore. Ministers do not resign. So we should NOT have to wait for a resignation.

@dye_phil Just to be clear, the case was not vexatious. Sandie Peggie, the nurse whose space was invaded, sued the health authority and won. Women in Australia are now expected to live with a quack who thinks the concept of women is “nebulous”.

@kevinbonavia I have a young girl in need in Stevenage that has a young baby that has been made homeless and @NorthHertsDC have washed their hands of them. Social services have her a place at Hitchin mother and baby unit but she can’t go there immediately. I paid to put her in a hotel last night so that her and her baby were not walking the streets. The baby is on child protection plan and is under social services. Stevenage social services are and have been beyond negligent along with North Hertfordshire council. She’s a vulnerable young girl with a young child and has been quite literally left on the streets. I have gone above and beyond for them since she was released from prison in December but I’m at a loss. Can you please help. She is all out of options. Please also share this, I need to get this girl the help she needs.
