Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel called on European partners to provide urgent and concrete support to the Lebanese Government’s efforts to end the war particularly by strengthening military and security institutions, reinforce state authority across the country, and enable the disarmament of Hezbollah in line with international resolutions and Lebanon’s sovereignty. He also stressed the critical need for expanded humanitarian assistance and sustained political backing to safeguard stability and peace in Lebanon, urging greater European engagement in support of the Lebanese people’s legitimate aspiration to live in security, dignity, and peace.

Honored to take part in the European People’s Party Summit in Brussels. I called for strong and concrete support for Lebanon’s sovereignty by providing the Lebanese Army with all the necessary means to fully assert state authority and disarm Hezbollah. I also stressed the importance of supporting direct negotiations efforts to end the conflict with Israel once and for all. For the EU, migration is not only an internal issue - it is about partnerships, stability and addressing root causes together with our neighbours. As Commissioner for the Mediterranean, I stressed the need for stronger cooperation with our Southern partners, fighting smugglers, investing in legal pathways, and creating real job opportunities on both shores.
