Ontario Chambers of Commerce shared practical ideas at Queen’s Park today to support local businesses, create jobs, and grow the economy. Credit to @OntarioCofC's leadership for uniting business voices on priorities that matter to people across Ontario, including Northern communities.

Today, our government announced Ontario is taking the next step to expand hydroelectric power in the North.   This is the first time Ontario has invested in a large-scale net new hydroelectric project in a decade.   These two projects in the Moose River Basin could power 430,000 homes with affordable and clean energy.   Learn more: news.ontario.ca/en/release/100… @Sflecce @GeorgePirieMPP

Canada is America’s top customer, supporting a U.S. trade surplus in manufactured goods, while also providing affordable and reliable energy that fuels the U.S. economy. Thanks for the discussion, @ChrisCuomo.

Today, the #ONChamberNetwork had the pleasure of hearing from the OCC’s Policy Team as they unpacked the results from our recently launched, 2025 Ontario Economic Report! 🔍 Among the key findings: ✔️ Business confidence in Ontario’s economy has doubled in the past year, rising from 13% to 26%, but a majority of respondents (48%) lack confidence in the economy. ✔️ High costs remain the top concern for businesses, with 78% citing the cost of living, followed by inflation (62%), housing affordability (57%), and rising operational costs (51%). ✔️ When U.S. tariff threats are on the table, business confidence drops dramatically to just 15%, almost erasing the last year’s gains. With tariffs in play, six in ten (60%) business decision-makers would lack confidence in Ontario’s economic outlook. ✔️ Simplifying or reducing business taxes (42%) is the most frequently cited policy solution to improve economic conditions, followed by affordable housing (32%), health system capacity (30%) and workforce development to solve labour shortages (29%). The OCC sends tremendous thanks to our Chamber Network for their invaluable support in amplifying our annual Business Confidence Survey, allowing their members' voices from across the province to be heard! Thank you also to our report partners, including our Lead Partner, @HydroOne, Presenting Partner, @Bruce_Power, and Research Partners, @BMO and Leger.
